Was on the verge of swerving this.
Myretown and Konfusion look to have a future outwith handicaps, while Johnnywho, despite being a target horse of mine, will certainly not be getting bet at those odds.
Almost went with my old pal Royal Pagaille, but looking at Imperial Saint now.
Had high hopes for him before the reason, but he’s flopped big time, but interesting to me that he takes this in rather than Doncaster
I missed the bigger odds, so a token interest just now at 25’s, in the hope I can get bigger
Edit – Nearly bet Imperial Saint at 40’s and though initially disappointed at 25’s (topped up 20’s) I’ve now got a cracking lay in. Stake back, and a wee bit more to cover Royal Pagaille, so two running for me and a (small) profit on the race whatever happens
Imperial Saint 25’s (Laid 5’6’s)
Royal Pagaille 14’sJanuary 15, 2026 at 20:23 #1750571Konfusion

January 16, 2026 at 13:12 #1750624Myretown looked a bit of an accident waiting to happen at Newbury. He got in deep at most of the early fences, while still clearing them nicely (quite a task) he took a real flier at a couple, then when they entered the straight he put in two big quite stiff-backed jumps before pretty much failing to take off at the 9th. It was a very bad fall – landed on his neck and was kicked by Grandeur D’Ame as that one tried to jump over him. He has a ton of talent. I backed him for the Gold Cup, but this has to be a watching brief.
Konfusion has a Gold Cup entry too, though I have my doubts about him getting up the hill. But his jumping is getting more precise with every race and if it has come on again, it will be a deadly weapon in this field. when he gets it right, which is more often than not, it is ultra precise, helping maintain momentum and often gaining a bit on rivals. My sole reservation is the Haydock ground as I am not sure he has that ultra deep stamina of the likes of Royale Pagaille.
January 16, 2026 at 14:06 #1750627Can I throw a question out there ahead of the race?
Why does JP keep this Johnnywho at Jonjo’s?
January 17, 2026 at 05:12 #1750688He doesn’t tend to switch stables , Myretown if he’s to run in the GC has to win , I’m playing but listening to a recent podcast the Apple of scus eye isn’t Myretown its Derhassen Paddy , gutted we won’t see him at Cheltenham
January 17, 2026 at 07:44 #1750693Myretown could still be ver well handicapped, but he’s had two bad falls now.
Not sure hike in ratings will have caught up with Konfusion, still going away from them at Wetherby. I’ll strike whilst irons hot with him.
January 17, 2026 at 09:20 #1750702Richmond Lake 15-2.
The more I know the less I understand.
January 17, 2026 at 09:24 #1750708Royal Pagaille was good enough in the Betfair Chase to give him a chance against these young horses.
Royal Pagaille 10/1
January 17, 2026 at 10:17 #1750714Tough race this. If connections of Myretown and Konfusion think them good enough to warrant entries in the Gold Cup then they should be plenty good enough to win this. Its just which one?
I’ll go with a rare forecast with the pair and an obligatory tenner on Royal Pagaille.
January 17, 2026 at 12:40 #1750733Gone for Royal Pagaille 14s
January 17, 2026 at 13:11 #1750737Richmond Lake 13/2 win only
January 17, 2026 at 13:24 #1750741Konfusion 9/2 WIN
Royale Pagaille 12/1 EWJanuary 17, 2026 at 14:12 #1750752Brilliant Bobby, well done my friend. Heart in mouth finish too!
January 17, 2026 at 14:16 #1750755Great stuff Bobby. Pricewise must be reading this forum.
January 17, 2026 at 14:43 #1750761Myretown seems to have developed Ahoy Senor’s style of jumping. Find it difficult to watch him these days.
January 17, 2026 at 16:04 #1750796Frustratingly Myretown jumped really well all the way round until 3 out and then took off way too soon. Knocked the breath out of him and he did well to finish so close in end and he wasn’t fluent at either of the last 2 fences.
January 17, 2026 at 16:19 #1750803Russell yard isn’t exactly flying but no excuses , I reckon today proved neither Myretown or Konfusion should be running in the Gac
