He’ll be fav now…

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 1, 2024 at 20:47 #1676063He is: 6/4.
Van Gerwen was terrible.
January 2, 2024 at 15:19 #1676112My Son who is a month older than Litter has told me that Luke is current fav for next years Sports personality of the year.
I haven’t checked what price but
A) He probably have to win this or at least that would be his best chance
B) Someone like Harry Kane could win a Champions League and score 10 goals in the Euros with England winning the thingCharles Darwin to conquer the World
January 2, 2024 at 18:37 #16761186/1 Nathan. Really don’t like that price in a Euros and Olympic year. If England stuff the football (and in all honesty I think we will) then the Olympians will be queuing up. This is also the only darts tournament that gets wider attention and it’ll be 11 months ago by the time of the ceremony.
Back to tonight and he’s got a very tough test in Cross so it should be fascinating and I can see it going all the way to 11 sets. Hard to see past Humphries in the other match.
January 2, 2024 at 22:51 #1676128I guess Luke’s a certainty for the final.
January 2, 2024 at 22:58 #1676130A clash of the Lukes. A remarkable achievement by Littler to reach the final but I think Humphries will have too much for him. Happy to cash out for a guaranteed profit and to just enjoy the final.
January 2, 2024 at 23:03 #1676131I’m on Humphreys as per the opening post of the thread but I don’t mind losing this one. I don’t want to lose this one but I don’t mind.
Two great performances tonight

January 3, 2024 at 09:48 #1676143If they can both play anything like last night then we’re in for a cracker. It’s very hard to call, clearly Littler can handle the pressure and Humphries has seemingly found his best form after coming back from the brink in earlier rounds. Tough one to call. Really looking forward to it, got some beverages in the chiller so just need to get work out of the way now.
January 3, 2024 at 10:29 #1676149Some of the media coverage of Littler is getting ridiculous. I know he seems to be dealing with it all very well but it has to be a concern.
January 3, 2024 at 10:53 #1676150Absolutely agreed Cork. The BBC is even getting involved, they have been running live text commentary on his matches only when they used to only do it for the final. At least he should be too young for the grubbier depths of our media to be able to dig anything up on him.
I hope he uses some of his prize money to hire someone to keep an eye on him.
January 3, 2024 at 11:19 #1676151I don’t mind the stories about him playing darts when he was growing up etc but the usual papers are running stories about his parents and his girlfriend.
I don’t mean it to be mean spirited but it might be better if he does not win tonight. If he does, the media rubbish is going to get ten times worse. He is dealing with it OK for now but a 16 year old – legally still a child – should not be having all of this put on him.
January 3, 2024 at 13:25 #1676154Absolutely, family should always be off limits but we all know that’s not how our media operates sadly.
As you say, this sudden rise would be a lot for anyone to deal with, never mind someone who isn’t even an adult yet. Hopefully he can block the noise out and focus on the darts, it does seem to be all he’s ever known so that will help.
I hope the sport’s bosses look after him too, they will no doubt be seeing pound signs with the increased attention he is bringing to it, I’ve certainly not seen this level of interest in a long time.
January 3, 2024 at 14:26 #1676162Agree, the PDC has a serious duty of care towards someone who is not an adult.
I hope he manages to stay focused. At least as a young lad, so the sponsors may not be that interested. Unlike when Emma Raducanu won the US Open. She arguably lost focus but the sponsors were inevitably going to go crazy over a pretty girl.
I see she has qualified for the main draw in the Australian Open, so perhaps she is on the way back.
January 3, 2024 at 22:06 #1676189Well done Nathan. 5 in a row!
As I thought, Humphries had too much firepower. And maybe in the long run it will work out better for Littler not to have won it when so young.
January 3, 2024 at 22:24 #1676190Great match, one dart from 5-2 and it ends up 7-4. That’s what champions do. He recovered well from a wobble in the second to sixth sets. Most players would have crumbled after that.
He may only have been half joking when he says it’s just as well he won it now because Littler will go on to dominate!
January 3, 2024 at 22:37 #1676191Thanks Cork..
I think the occasion got to Littler slightly. He could have gone 5-2 up but wasn’t quite as on fire as in the other games. Humphries peaked later in the competition and held it the better of the two in the final but fine margins
Littler deserves his place in the Premier League and like Mardle said at the start he’s box office

I’d give him a year on the tour before putting him in given that he’s not won it. If he’d won you couldn’t leave him out but anything less doesn’t justify it imo. He’s all but guaranteed it for years to come from 2025.
