Before anyone mentions Silverburn the horse is overated and often priced up based on who his brother’s are.

    Definately

Clivex and I had our differences and they are now a thing of history. Salselon very obviously chose to take sides in the latter stages of the "intense" debating taking place between myself and Twickenham’s finest, and thereafter has made comments of an increasingly barbed nature which seems motivated as much as anything by previous encounters on another site.

It is a pity because I would have liked to think that having made my peace with Clive that would be an end to this kind of situation. Only time will tell I guess, you lovely man you! See I can be nice!!!!

Once and for all can we keep the posts to the issues rather than personalities and percieved friendships and emnities. This isnt Talking horses with its drab little clique who all think they are "characters" (there..i have said it). The above is playground stuff which gives the impression i was interested either way. To put it mildly, it cannot be of any interest to anyone else….

I think some of the problem lies in the punter falling into the false favourite trap rather than Paul Nichols being out of form.

He may not be bang in form but as I stated late last month a lot of his horses do nothing more than create good prices for other horses.

I like a few others on here I have never thought of Silverburn as a good horse and said so in previous posts.

There was a right few bob won on the winner the other day and although I never backed it I was very tempted but decided to back one of Jonjo’s instead.

As far as Hebridean is concerned no way can you say his run had anything to do with Nichols lack of form…..talking horse! unproven! against a horse reputed to be Nicky Hendersons best 3yo…the betting surely showed the writing was on the wall before they were off?…..perhaps he’s better than that but the ground could have been against him at the trip…time will tell. Quosak was only beaten a short head in a ding Dong Battle.

I can’t see any real problem with PN’sform I just think some expect too much of the man sometimes……yard can’t be 100% all the time.

To be fair to Firefox I can’t see anything wrong with him questioning the yards form and if people didn’t start threads we would have nothing to debate….ok ok I was trying to be diplomatic…ARGUE about

Back to the subject, Nichols has given punters a profit for a few seasons now…it was inevitable the market was going to ctach up (suprised it hadnt already). His horses are probably a bit over bet and maybe not quite flying like they have been. but compared with the lulls at certain yards, (Pipe for one) this really is nothing at all

The strike rate is fine; it’s most probably lemmings backing his horses into ridiculously short prices which leads to topics like this.

    Stalker!

Its not my fault you "lost the dressing room" on your other little site.

Now be a good boy and run along would you.

This is a little bit rich, firefox, given your sub-millisecond responses a few weeks back whenever clivex posted.

Now be a good boy and be nice, would you.

If you want me to smack him one Grassy just say the word

    His SR for Nov is 22% -£36.39. SR for Dec t.d. 21% -£36.39. Compare this with October’s 34% +£20.68. I

I dont take that as a dip in form. One month at a time is not conslusive enough for me and 34% is an almost freakishly strong figure (at an early part of the season …lest face it) anyway. 22% is still impressive

As for the personal stuff re Salselon, you are forcing him to respond because of half truths.

    Drop it….

I just think a lot of his were winning 1st time out in October, where a lot of other trainers were still taking time to kick into gear and they have caught up with him. The same is true of NT-D. But I expect he’ll get winners over the Xmas period and come the bigger races into the New year, he’ll be flying again. Too many good horses not to win plenty more races with.

Clive the problem with the form of yard’s is that they can come in and out of form fairly swiftly. Didn’t Noseda have to shut down for a month earlier in the year and came back firing thereafter.

He didnt shut down with a 22% strike rate did he?

I think MCFC is right about October. King was a little slow out of blocks i think and Pipe was in dreadful form at that time.

I think that it is a case of weighting the factor isnt it?

If at the present time King and Nichols horse are roughly same price and roughly same form, then the king one could appeal more, because the stable form factor would just tilt the balance without it being an overriding factor…

    maybe

They’ve barely had any racing and for all you know they could just turn out to be average… Fistral Beach and Qozak both ran well enough and just weren’t good enough on the day.

Nicholls runners don’t win every race despite popular rumors!

I hope people don’t use horses like Fistral Beach getting collared late on as a yard being out of form. It was merely beaten by a better horse on the day who probably got the trip better. Had it been stuffed out of sight, then you can question the yard, but a lot of his are running well without winning. Others are making mistakes at crucial times which have cost them dear. Horses like Silverburn are in my opinon over rated and over hyped. Had he not been a full brother to Denman, would people be talking as loudly about him as they do. He’s not the only Nicholls horse to be bigged up in that way, but I think his form is pretty much where it deserves to be, though he did run badly the other day.

We’re now approaching the time of the season where Nicholls will give his horses a break, and the only ones running are ones with targets, when this is the case it is usually a good time to follow nicholls, as most of the ones he brings out have quite good chances.

Certainly Celestial Halo proved that if the yard’s horses are down a little its only a little and nothing serious. Given the track and even the going were not 100% to his liking, he ran a great race and has to have place claims for the Champion. That said, I think Binocular was even more impressive Saturday than he was at Aintree, especially given how Ruby stole a lead early doors. Gwanako also ran a good race, My Petra not staying or not. And Red Harbour looked a good beast who will be suited by 2m4f plus over hurdles.
A yard I would be worried about is the Twistan Davies one who saw 3 horses who he really thinks a lot about in Buck thelegend, Little Josh and Pettifour run absolute stinkers pl;us the majority of his not running anywhere near the form they did last month and before.
