Fridays opener is home to the best bet of the week to my eyes – Art Power @ 7/2

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be lumping on in a 22 runner Handicap spring for 3 year olds. But this is no ordinary Handicap. This is the first race of the beginning of a group 1 superstar being born.

Tim Easterbys lad was beaten on debut but then has won his next two starts easily showing blistering early speed. On his second start (York 5f), he maintained the cruising speed to have each of his rivals off the bridle a long way from home whilst he was in hand. When asked to go, he picked up in tremendous style by 5 lengths hands and heels with loads left. He then reappeared this season at Newcastle and did the same again but over 6f. I’d think he’d very good at 6f sprinting but this 5f sprint will be right up his street in the big field.

He was being aimed at Ascot with either this Handicap or the Commonwealth Cup Group 1 in mind. Like me, the connections seem to know they’ve got a special one on their hands here. He’s drawn high which is ideal and I simply expect him to lead them early and watch as one by one they all come off the bridle. I really think he wins this in the style of a superstar and then rolls on to somewhere like the July Cup.

    Art Power @ 7/2

Have to admit i was “wowed” by him at Newcastle, almost was tempted to back him for the CWC-lucky i didn’t.

Though it’s in my nature to take him on now he’s like 2-1 in a massive handicap of horses only turned 3.

Handles all ground. Ran well when 2nd on debut to potentially smart Heiress.

She won her maiden decent enough, but probably indicated to me anyway that she would want a stiff 5 rather than 6. This was probably backed up on her 5th at Wolves.

First 6 home at wolves ratings.

    Maystar was 91 now 97
Get Boosting was 77 now 87
Auchterarder was 87 won next now 92
    Raaeb was 91 now 97
Dancin Inthestreet was not rated but runs off 83 tomorrow.
    Kondratiev in 6TH was 86 now 94

Looking at all those 5 around her, they had at least a run more than her.

She would’ve won i’m almost sure the last day, she got so much trouble, handicapper put her up a bit.

I reckon she’s very welll handicapped still + gets a stone off Art Power tomorrow.

I’d rather see Ciaran Fallon on, but at 10s.

    I am on.

Art Power does look to have a real shout here, but he’s a bit skinny for me
at 2/1 in a 21 runner handicap. If he gets his own way you’d have to fancy him,
but with all sorts that can happen in a race like this I’m going to have a
punt on Band Practice at 40/1 6 places with Paddy Power. He
looked fairly decent winning 3 on the trot last year before being aimed too
high at the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. I think he’s at least a very
    decent place prospect.

Dancin Inthestreet is quite popular in the betting, and I can see why. I think she looks a big player here, though I do think that it’s Art Powers to lose.

It goes against the grain to back one so short in a race like this but sometimes a winner is staring you in the face. Backed Art Power and a small each way bet on Mighty Spirit.

    He was very good.

My selection was very unlucky in running. Not saying she’d have caught him of course.
