The Irish version of the Queen Mother at Leopardstown on 27th December

    Min
    Great Field
    Footpad
    Simply Ned
    Sizing John
    Ballyoisin
    Special Thiarra

Don’t expect all 3 Mullins horses o run but would be great if 2 of them ran. He’s not under the same sort of pressure in the trainers championship as he was last season so he’ll probably only run one of them but then again he’s running out of opportunities to get runs into them

Sizing John made his seasonal reappearance here in his 3 x Gold Cup season. OK it was getting a distant view of Douvan’s backside again that made them step him up, but 2m might be a nicer starting race for a potentially fragile horse than the 3 miler before he goes for gold again.

Not running as too fat! Ground too firm for enough grass gallops in time. Plan is Kinloch Brae to start.

Would imagine Footpad is the most likely of the Mullins brigade to run, I wonder if they might run one of the others in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton the day after Boxing Day.

It may only be a G2 but 5 winners of the race subsequently went on to win that seasons QMCC.

Footpad is set to run in the Paddy’s Rewards Club “Sugar Paddy” Chase at Leopardstown on December 27.

Willie Mullins’ six-year-old carried all before him as a novice last season, winning the Arkle at Cheltenham and the Ryanair Novice Chase at Punchestown.

His return to action did not go to plan this term, however, looking beaten when he fell at Naas in a race won by Saint Calvados, picking up a minor injury in the process.

“Yeah, he seems good. He has been doing fast work at home. He has schooled at home and all seems well (after cutting his leg),” said Mullins.

“Hopefully, fingers crossed, everything will be all right. It looked a very ordinary cut so we didn’t worry too much about it but it was obviously sore. We have let it heal up now and it’s fine.

“That race (Paddy’s Rewards Club Sugar Paddy Chase ) at Leopardstown seems the target for him now, we’ll go there, see how he comes out of that.”

Mullins also confirmed Great Field and Min for the race.

KSS- I would be shocked if all 3 turn up- in saying that this year is a little different given the weather.

I’d be shocked too; given that he’s not gonna be challenged in the Trainers Championship I thought he’d keep them apart but when you have 4 very good 2 mile chasers it’s very hard to keep them apart; they’ve all had a prep run and this is the only Grade 1, 2 mile Chase in Ireland before Cheltenham; there is a grade 2 at the DRF though. This will probably tell Mullins who his best 2 miler is and will help him plan for the rest of the season; maybe if one of them disappoint they might be stepped up. This is a very interesting race. If Ruby gets on Min does that leave the door open for Jacob to take the Footpad ride or does Townend get first refusal?
