For me this is the one handicap where there aren’t 3 or 4 obviously well handicapped horses

A wave of the sea is the one that interests me

Very much considering adding him to midnight shadow

I like farclas but I’m not sure he has enough in hand, iv been on the last twice and they are definitely trying to win with him but just not sure he has enough in hand to win this.

Aye Bobby, one of the Mullins mentioned it somewhere last week when asked and then Ruby re-confirmed today pre-race. Think his odds will be short enough, although being caught on the line today will have helped.

A few show up clear here due to strong looking form lines. My top rated and close are:

    Huntsmans Son 172
    Maypole Class 169
    Eamon An Cnoic 166
    Happy Diva 163
    Sully D’Oc AA 163
    Smarty Wild 162

Top two come off a break, although that isn’t always a disadvantage if trained for the meeting. cover the top 3, Huntman’s Son (40/1), Eamon An Cnoic(40/1) and Maypole Class(33/1).
Notably Huntsman’s Son has yet to be out of the first two off a break and hasn’t been over-raced for an 11 year old.
Eamon An Cnoic has been hurdling, and would be a dark one.
Maypole Class pulled up lame last time, but steadily progressive before that.

I find it interesting that Venetia’s thrown in French recruit Laskalin first time up here, given she could’ve fired Cepage, Fanion D’Estruval or both

I’m going with him Tom. As I said, not really my race this, and Farclas, who I’ve been waiting out all season is too short now, as is A Wave Of The Sea, who I also really like.

Enough questions for Laskalin, and I don’t like betting blind, but I’ll take a chance.

I really liked the look of Happy Diva as an EW shout in The Mares Chase, and she’s very interesting now that she comes here. Looks to have an equally strong chance here to make the frame, so considering her.

Main hope is Coole Cody though. BetVictor Gold Cup winner, and though he comes here 6lb higher, he shaped really well in The Pendil, and I think he’s a player here.

Haven’t bet them yet, and not decided Win or EW. It’ll depend on whether or not I add Happy Diva, but definitely going with this pair.

    Coole Cody
    Laskalin

Sully D’Oc Aa for me. Overpriced albeit the long lay off is a small concern.

Maddening that Sully Doc is still 25/1. His Ascot win has worked out exceptionally well with six of the seven horses he beat that day all winning since.

Fils D’oudaries is also worth a look.

My old mate The Shunter running here is IMO, the right decision. Gainford claiming 7 is pure filth from Emmet, brilliant training giving the horse the best possible chance of getting the 100k bonus.
He’s short enough but will be tough beat.

Agree Peter, Fils D’oudairies is interesting. So is Assemble possibly.

Farclas is short but he,s obv been primed for today , Mr Whitaker is a prev course and distance winner and he,s carrying a lot of weight ( not norm a good stat in this ) , however he is a bloody good horse and I think he,ll run a big one , they,ll do for me

It’s a very tough race, but I’m hopeful here.

Just the two false starts. And now a standing start. Race ruined before it begins.

At least the result was better than the start! Thought he was doing too much but he has bolted up.
