A few jumping out already
Coole Cody – Last years winner, and a more than satisfactory return last week. Don’t see any reason why he can’t go close again 20’s
Manofthemountain – A horse who passed me by until that run at Chepstow the other day. Very impressed, and the 25’s is fair, but worth noting that Grand Sefton entry 25’s
Midnight Shadow – Continually underrated, and cracking return in The Old Roan. Usually better for a run too. Would’ve been an impressive winner of The Caspian Caviar, and the current price looks wrong.
Reserve Tank – Thought he had a squeak if he went for The Old Roan. If back anywhere near his best, he’s on a nice mark, and I think he’s got a live chance here at a price.
Sirruh Du Lac – Former Festival Winner, who’s not had much luck since, but very pleasing comeback the other day over hurdles, and he should build on that. I thought he’d be pushing those at the head of the market, but he’s 33’s. Unless they know something (which is obviously possible) then I have to take that, no way he goes off anywhere near that price. 33’s
Caribean Boy, Coconut Splash, and Spiritofthegames look interesting too, but that initial quintet jump out.
I’ll bet Midnight Shadow and Sirruh Du Lac early. The prices just look wrong, though part of me is being greedy, and I’ll definitely top up if I see bigger
Midnight Shadow 25’s
Sirruh Du Lac 33’sOctober 26, 2021 at 17:34 #1564701Absolutely spot on Bobby, I can’t let that price go for Siruh du Lac. I put this up in the
DLAP forum after watching his race at Cheltenham……Very much in need of the run, and let down very easily by Scu when
he ran out of puff just before the 2nd last. Even though His last 3
over fences went PU, F, UR, the handicapper hasn’t relented on his
chase mark after his win in the Plate at the Festival in 2019. Hindsight
is a wonderful thing, and clearly this run over hurdles was almost a bit
of schooling to get him fit. He did travel really well though and I’d
keep an eye to see where he goes next. Clearly has kept his ability and
will strip fitter for that next time outI got a further 2 points with a Paddy Power Boost, as long as he doesn’t
“bounce” he must have a good shout.Siruh du Lac 35/1 Paddy Power
October 26, 2021 at 17:58 #1564704Lalor 20s
Midnight shadow 25sGoing to back both of those
There have been rumblings that Nicholls thinks lalor is very well handicapped
Midnight shadow ran a belter the other day and its hard to see him not outrunning those odds
October 26, 2021 at 18:08 #1564706Coconut Splash is my early fancy but I’ll sit tight for now.
October 26, 2021 at 18:45 #1564713I backed Midnight Shadow for this AP last year but he didn’t run in it.
October 26, 2021 at 18:58 #1564716Lalor 22-1 ew is my early pick. Has had a wind op and with Paul Nicholls now, who said in his stable tour that he is an intended runner.
October 27, 2021 at 12:02 #1564763Lalor into 12s now
October 27, 2021 at 12:43 #15647678s with some firms. Blimey.
October 27, 2021 at 13:44 #156477025s long gone on midnight shadow too
14s now
October 28, 2021 at 09:53 #1564849Don’t forget Nicholls stated it takes a year for horses to settle into a new stable. So Lalor has a while to go yet before being settled.
Obviously if your Willie Mullins it takes much less time
October 28, 2021 at 10:13 #1564851Not necessarily. Look at Next Destination. Off the track for 18 months, moving from Mullins to Nicholls October last year. Did pretty well straight off the bat.
October 28, 2021 at 10:17 #1564852How long was ND in Nicholl’s yard though?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 28, 2021 at 10:29 #1564858Nicholls gets some of his French imports into his stable, on to the track and winning pretty quickly as well. Solo comes to mind, he won a graded hurdle impressively first time as I recall. I’m not saying Nicholls didn’t say what he said, or that Lalor is a shoe-in for the PP Gold Cup, but in reality he can get some of them ready to roll.
November 2, 2021 at 16:30 #1565951If I’m reading it right Midnight Shadow only nudged up 1 lb for that old Roan Run.
VTC will be pleased :) I know I am
November 3, 2021 at 20:58 #1566101Quite like Al Dancer for this
I seem to remember for some reason horses who ran in this previously have quite a good record in this

Always seemed to be a bit of an under achiever really but won on his first attempt over hurdles and has then won first time out every year since. A couple of pounds lower than when giving Master Tommytucker 6 lbs at Newton Abbot last year then ran 3 rd in this looking the likely winner for most of the race off 5 lb higher than he has here.
Moved to Sam Thomas yard who had a nice winner FTO in a big race lately for the same owner and looks to be plenty of cash about for him the last few days.
November 3, 2021 at 21:34 #1566103Botchy, also, check his record fresh!
