The Bosses Oscar 8/1 e/w 4 places
Standard elliot plot job, three non descript runs to get a low mark over fences
Hes ended up getting 143 which looks very workable once the handbrake has been taken off, given he finished 2nd in a pertempts off a mark in the low 150s
Other one id like is longhouse poet if they can get a prep run and the ground is very soft, though he may want even further than 3 miles
November 30, 2021 at 22:14 #1570040Given he’s a maiden is he even certain to show up? It wouldn’t be the first time or anything, i just wonder whether he might keep him back and run something else.
Noble Yeats is in the same boat given he’s a novice and is entered over the water in early December, but he reeks of a plot as well. Needs a trip won over 22f over hurdles, then stays well to win his beginners over 2m2 with the stiff Galway finish. Favourite over Cape Gentleman and runs no race, then dropped to 2m which would never have suited. Had hoped for bigger but i guess its Emmet Mullins.
Alfa Mix to my eye is also waiting for the right day to try his best.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 30, 2021 at 22:56 #1570042Kicking myself Jack, went to take 16’s on Alfa Mix, and it went right before my eyes, now 12’s. Still very high on the shortlist though, along with stablemate Ilikedwayurthinkin
Similar story with another I liked, Le Musigny, a very big 33’s, but 20’s already.
Very keen on Ten Ten for this last year, and was pleased to be ahead of a serious gamble on him. All for nothing though, and he finished midfield. Wary of him after that, but even this time around, and for all he’s 6lbs higher, I just keep going back to him.
Another who didn’t quite deliver last year was School Boy Hours. There’s not too much evidence to back it up, certainly in recent runs, but I’ve still got a feeling he’s going to deliver at some point.
I bet Stones and Roses in Sunday’s Porterstown, and for all he drifted badly before the off, which told its own story, I thought he ran ok, and I’d expect better here. Very keen on him.
Enda Bolger landed this three years back, and I think he’s got a very interesting one in Champagne Platinum. Didn’t quite happen for him last year over hurdles, and I reckon the change of yard can see a big improvement. His run in the 2020 Kim Muir was decent, and 5lbs lower here, I’d give him a big shout.
Mortal looks a crazy price to me at 100’s. I’ll take that just now, as I’d be surprised if it lasted. He wasn’t that bad in The Troytown, and he’s worth a go at that price.
Others of interest are Coko Beach, January Jets, and Foxy Jacks.
Bigger betting race for me this, and i happily go with three Antepost.
I’ve already bet Mortal, and although Alfa Mix and Ten Ten are well on my radar, I think my Antepost trio will be…
Champagne Platinum 16’s

Ah i didn’t see that. He’ll definitely be popular in the market then.
To be honest, while i’ve backed him for the NHC on the basis he’s been mentioned for it (albeit now others have been too) i don’t really rate the horse any great shakes at all. I was very against him last year when all the rage for the Pertemps. He’s so one-paced it’s unbelievable and off the 150 or whatever Irish hurdle mark he has i think he’s very exposed. So for me, unless they really have been faffing he’s well in a little, but not a whole lot.
Whereas personally i could see Noble Yeats having the guts of a stone in hand off 142. His form and pedigree really point to a proper stayer, not a 2m chaser. The concern for him is he’s been a NR on good ground twice and leopardstown drains well so he might not get his ground.
Bobby, Champagne Platinum is one i’d be partly interested in too. JP has a good record in the race, but he’ll have plenty of runners. On Foxy Jacks i just keep remember his run in the Monkfish race last year where he patently looked like he needed right handed tracks.

I thought that about Run Wild Fred before his last run as he was a bit of a bridesmaid horse dropping back in trip, but chose him in my 2 and he hosed up. Gordon Elliott has a habit, of, shall we say, exploiting marks when he’s ready. ;o)

Noone else as far as I know Jack.

Lol Mike, exploiting marks when ready? He’s finished decent seconds in massive handicaps already. If he was wanting to exploit when ready, he’d have won the Irish National! Also, well done on choosing him, but i’m sure he’s been a selection before so let’s not pretend you can read Gordon like a book ;)
The Bosses Oscar has also had bigger races and been backed before such as the Martin Pipe + Pertemps..so it’s not just plain sailing for Gordie when they’re “ready”.
Simple fact on TBO is he’s continually overbet because he’s a popular horse with punters for reasons i don’t know as he doesn’t win often at all. Granted, since he’s probably a handicapper there has been a little fiddling going on at times, but even still when its come to the “day” he’s been beat!
Still hope he wins the NHC though.“Noone else as far as I know Jack.”
Fair enough i can’t see bigger than 8s about, you must have a boost or something i don’t know.

December 1, 2021 at 16:06 #1570111If he can finish 2nd in a pertemps off 151 you’d hope TBO will run a big race off 143 Jack
I’m on him for the NHC and he’d need to win really off 143 if he’s going to win at Cheltenham imo, or at the very least go close staying on
Noble yeats jumped like a snooker table when very well backed last time I saw him behind Cape Gentleman
December 1, 2021 at 17:48 #1570132He did have probably the best 7lb claimer in a few years on his back that day too FF91 which helps. Not saying he won’t run a big race, just not his biggest fan. Like you, i sort of hope he does run a big one, but i’m sceptic when it comes to him, always have been. At 8/1 i can see the bet though, as if dec’d he’ll be popular regardless.
Noble Yeats might not even show up to be honest, and i’m not betting him right now or anything, but he’s the one that caught my eye, as he’s clearly wanting a trip and hasn’t got it yet. While jumping that badly behind CG he still ran respectable. The Shunter didn’t set the world alight early doors, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he jumps better when it’s wanted. There’s no way he’s a 2miler which they ran him in last time.
Yeats out of a Flemensfirth mare who did her winning at 3m herself screams stayer.Fascinating race as always and as you say horses like Longhouse Poet would be interesting if running, but given they really want soft ground it’s a wait and see job with him too.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 6, 2021 at 12:27 #1571036I’ve got two early fancies here.
Lord Royal at 16/1, and Birchdale 25/1, though I haven’t actually bet either of them yet.
December 19, 2021 at 16:01 #1573311The horse I really want to bet here is Tout Est Permis, but I’ll wait and see if he gets declared, as he holds another entry.
My first bet is Foxy Jacks 33-1 ew, and another that I’m drawn to is Agusta Gold.
December 23, 2021 at 00:32 #1574052Foxy Jacks an interesting one Mark, got a soft spot for him.
I’ve completely missed the price now with Alfa Mix, and that 16’s is a distant memory. Same story with School Boy Hours. Went to take the 20’s, only to see he’s now 12’s. FFS.
Anyway, it’ll be between that pair, and the other JP duo of Ten Ten, and Champagne Platinum as my third bet in this. Quite happy to have three in this, as usually a big betting race for me.
I’ve had a second bet though, and as planned, it’s on Stones and Roses. If he gets declared, the 20’s surely won’t last, and I’m happy with that price, for all I would like to see some Antepost movement in his price.
