I’ve just been Tesco and have some humble pie here for "so called racing experts" who denied Paco Boys greatness.
I may set up a few tables outside the house provided with pies and forks given the number of people who should be attending.
What a performance, he has improved and will sweep everything this year.
Thank you for Evens, thank you for 4-5 and 8-11 – it’s been a healthy day.
Fair play Mr W, i will eat my slice, happy with the result though!
May 15, 2010 at 16:24 #295820It was impressive enough; and although Richard Hughes got caught napping, he fortunately woke up in time.
The question is, would he be able to canter all over the likes of Goldikova. I’m not so sure.

May 15, 2010 at 18:24 #295838Come on – he has beaten Ouqba in a desperately poor Group 1.
Yes, it was quite easy for him and Hughes looked quite flash holding onto him for as long as possible, but I’d save the superlatives for if and when Paco Boy can beat the likes of Rip Van Winkle off searching early fractions…
I’m still yet to be convinced he would be up to that task.

Best Miler Ever? Can I have some of what you’re taking please.

Agreed tdk,i"m happy to eat a slice of humble today but when Rip Van Winkle eats him,we"ll know who"s the boss!
May 15, 2010 at 18:56 #295844I’m glad Paco Boy won today in the manner he did, because it means I get a better price for when Rip destroys him later in the season!

I think Hannon should go for the Eclipse now if the ground is on the faster side, horse will clearly stay 10f and it’s an idea they have toyed with in the past but since his improvement he may do himself proper justice over 10f.Would mean missing out on the Queen Anne which is hardly the race it used to be, but you can get same prize money for coming 2nd in Eclipse than winning Queen Anne, imagine beating Rip Wan Winkle inthe Eclipse, the horse who got within a length or so of Sea The Stars, stud value would be much more brighter than beating a Cesare.
May 15, 2010 at 19:04 #295847Paco Boy would have next to no chance in the Eclipse (and he isn’t even entered)
May 15, 2010 at 19:15 #295849Have to say pretty good effort.
I won’t be having any humble pie though because I stick to my original assertion that his last run did nothing other than confirm that he was something approaching the horse he was last year, and I’m not sure this told us much more – he’s won at odds on and his chief rival on form ran no sort of race.
Anyone who thinks that Goldikova and/or RVW wouldn’t have toyed with the opposition today in a similar style to Paco Boy is in dreamland.
But, I do like Paco Boy, he has a great attitude and is clearly very talented.
Extremely disappointed with Zacinto, some of Sir M.Stoutes yet to fire I think.
Stick a slice of humble pie in that freezer and if Paco Boy ends up the top rated miler in Europe Mr W I’ll gladly eat my share. Long way to go until then though.
May 15, 2010 at 20:34 #295862Good performance by Paco Boy, though I wouldn’t get carried away with it, he beat a poor field who are quite frankly not top notch Group 1 horses. I would like to see him pitched in against Goldikova or RVW in a truly run race before I get excited.

May 15, 2010 at 22:13 #295870Mr. Wilson is clearly high. He proved absolutely nothing today. The way the race was likely to be run, it was near impossible to be beaten. The only way he was going to get beat was trouble in-running.
Corm – Zacinto was being very coltish in the paddock.

The style by which Paco Boy has won on his two starts this year was obviously very exciting to watch and I am delighted for his connections HOWEVER I will judge him at Group One level only when he comes up against a genuine group one field, the race today as with previous Lockinge races was very poor, you could question (bar the winner) wether there was a group one miler in the field at all.
He won a very bad race very easily….
The top yards rarely target this race with their best milers and that trend continued this year.
Whilst im delighted for the connections I cannot see him even getting near to RIP or Goldikova this year, they are in a different league, he will be found out against good horses

If he ends up rated higher than RVW, I’ll eat the freezer.

The problem when he comes up against RIP is he wont be able to cruise into his races like he seemingly so loves to do i.e RIP will have him off the bridle 3 out. Im genuinely convinced that he does not stay a mile in a truly run Group one and can only glide into his races in below standard Group ones such as today.

Funny that, RVW came of the bridle sooner than Paco Boy in Sussex lets not forget that Paco Boy was beaten 2.75l when carrying 9-7 to Rip Van Winkles 8-13 (8lbs) which cost him 3.3 lengths.
What was more impressive beating 1000 Guineas winner by 6.5 lengths giving her 3lbs? or beating 1000 Guineas winner by 4 lengths giving her 11lbs.
Theres no garanteed Rip Van Winkle has improved and we know Paco Boy has, the one with something to find is Rip Van Winkle categoricaly handed the race in Sussex with Paco Boy hating the ground conditions, I can see likes of Joncol smashing his mortgage on this and coming on here crying about a foot problem.
Now you do the math if they both run with 9-7 this coming August,.
Thanks
