Very best of luck to TRF horse Outlaw Tom tomorrow. He runs in the 2.40 at Hexham in the colors of the Milnathort Racing Club in which a few of us TRF’ers have a couple of shares.
It’s a bit of a test, four miles at Hexham is tough, but Tom seems to stay well so hopefully it’ll suit, time to find out how far he really stays I guess. Campbell Gillies up (regular jockey Peter Buchanan is on stable’s other runner Bear Dancing) and we’re currently about 10/1.
Lucinda Russell is very happy with him, she says he’s in great form at home.
Everything crossed here!

November 15, 2011 at 23:39 #378081Wednesday is my day off, so I can listen to it on the radio. Good luck Outlaw Tom; come back safe!
November 15, 2011 at 23:40 #378083Good luck to you all, and especially to Outlaw Tom himself
November 16, 2011 at 08:17 #378103I put up an analysis of the race on the TRF Group – Outlaw Tom section of the Forum.
Bear Dancing looks potentailly best, though like a few in the race has something to prove over course and distance.

November 16, 2011 at 15:08 #378145That must have been fun; well done
November 16, 2011 at 15:47 #378148Brilliant run by Outlaw Tom. I didn’t see that coming.
He’d not gone that far before and didn’t seem to have a liking for soft ground. Oh well, back to the drawing board…..November 16, 2011 at 16:55 #378154Congratulations all
Owning a soft ground staying chaser must be pleasure enough, but winning one of these cherished Hexham four-milers too, well…
…life can’t get much better than that
November 16, 2011 at 17:14 #378155Was a brilliant performance.
Could see from about 4 out that he was going well enough to be involved in the finish, and then when the long time leader fell into a hole after the last Tom just glided by him.
Great ride too, never panicked.
November 16, 2011 at 17:32 #378156I was head down at work this afternoon, so just able to watch the replay when I got in.
I think this was the sort of race that the stable had been eyeing up for Outlaw Tom. It gave him a chance to lob along for the first three miles and then keep staying on from three out, and picked up nicely on the run-in when asked. The ground was softer than I thought it would be, but no problem at all. Perfect ride from Campbell Gillies.
I think we could have a bit of fun in long distance chases in the next year or two.

A great feeling to be part of a winning racehorse, onwards and upwards for you all hopefully…
November 16, 2011 at 21:43 #378180I had a bet in the morning, completely forgot about the race (was very busy at work), and then…I saw he’d won.
Brilliant stuff, he stayed on fantastically. Looked as if the long distance suited him really well.
Get the jumping sorted, and it’s roll on Aintree 2013

So don't run, just like the others always do
November 16, 2011 at 21:45 #378181I’m delighted, very pleased for everyone concerned. He was very well bought at £5k and he’s in fantastic hands at that yard. The partnership, Milnathort Racing Club, is very well run by Paul Brierley also – he’s been very helpful to the TRF members who are part of the partnership throughout.
What a delight after upteen years of watching other peoples horses to have at least a little share in one, and what a double delight for it to be one as game as him, and triple delight for him to actually win!!
He’s a lovely horse too, I’ve been to see him a couple of times and he is fantastic – friendly and gentle.
Campbell Gillies gave him a lovely ride too, didn’t panic at all, as has already been mentioned, even when he was shuffled back a bit at one stage he just bided his time, kept the inside berth throughout, and produced him just at the right time.
Now that his niche has been found we’ll have something to really look forward to. When’s the next Hexham 4-miler?
Thanks for all the messages – much appreciated.
And remember – you can still join us, it’s great fun and very affordable. Just pm me or email me at david@theracingforum.co.uk
