Outlaw Tom was due to run at Hexham yesterday. The ground was quick but rain was forecast. Sadly the rain did not arrive in time for the race and hence Tom was declared a non-runner.
He is entered in a 3m 2f 0-135 Handicap Chase at Carlisle and Friday which looks a potentially tough contest. I understand Tom will also be entered at Hexham next Saturday, presumably in the 3 mile handicap hurdle.
October 9, 2014 at 20:31 #491842Outlaw Tom runs at Carlisle tomorrow in the 3.45, a 3m 2f Handicap Chase which is nominally a 0-135 but the top weight has a rating of 125. Tom is rated 18lbs below that and carries 10-8.
Course should suit, going is currently a touch on the soft side of good with showers forecast, distance is fine. There might be a question about the class of the race as Outlaw Tom seems best at the top of the weights taking on inferiors. He looked very well a couple of weeks back and should be ready ,though there’s a feeling he may need the race after a break to shake out the cobwebs.
October 11, 2014 at 16:33 #492108A very pleasing effort by Outlaw Tom against opponents who are probably just a grade too good for him. He jumped tidily, which is satisfying, was outpaced coming out of the back straight but stayed on again in the latter stages and collared a couple on the run-in to bag fourth place money. Bonus is that he doesn’t seem to have a problem with Carlisle, and would be interesting up against a lower class opponents at the track.
Assuming he comes out of this race OK then Outlaw Tom is aimed at Ayr on November 1st, after which he should go for the prime target of the 4 mile handicap chase at Hexham on November 19th.
