Great to see the old boy back on the winning trail
December 6, 2009 at 14:54 #262428I haven’t seen the race yet. All credit to the horse. He had such a bone crunching fall at Cheltenham early in his career I don’t think a lot of horses would have come back mentally from that. And great for David Pipe who always has a smile on his face and always seems to be shaking hands with everyone around him, win or lose.
December 6, 2009 at 15:02 #262431Dont forget L’aventure winning the Borders National and with Erics Charm in the London Natiional, these old warriors are showing the younger ones how to do it.
December 6, 2009 at 18:18 #262459Just watched the Borders National; what a brave little mare she is. Pity she never took to Aintree, but was probably a bit too small anyway.
December 7, 2009 at 09:50 #262513Truly a day for some of the more, um, characterful chasers yesterday, wasn’t it!
Delighted to see L’Aventure consent to win another nice prize, and she’s actually seemed a bit more willing so far this term than has sometimes been the case. That long run-in at Kelso looked tailor-made for a mare that picks up again as soon as she sees home. Bless’ er.
Still with the quirky, they even managed to get another win out of Jenny Gordon’s mardy pants Big Moment in the Ladies Open at Cottenham point-to-point yesterday, though whether he’ll consent to repeat the dose again this season is conjectural.

December 7, 2009 at 10:10 #262515Was pleased for Laventure too.I remember she collapsed at ayr after the scottish national one year….and everyone was over the moon when she got up.Shes been running well lately this season and if chepstow was a bog at xmas and she got in i wouldnt be adverse to parting with a few quid at big odds.
Our vic though was superb yesterday.Thought he was beat but the quirky old warrior kept on well.
