Does anyone know where this fella runs next?
<br>I notice he’s in the KG betting, but does not have that engagement in his RP entries and i just wondered if Mr Johnson and Mr Pipe would be willing have a crack at Kauto Star
Just looked as impressive  in the Charlie Hall as Kauto Star looked in the BF Chase and cracking race imo if both line up

November 21, 2006 at 01:33 #31813Don’t know, empty, but even an in-form Our Vic (and that does not happen as often as it should) would have at least 12 lengths to make up on Kauto Star, IMO.
Must. Sleep.
November 21, 2006 at 01:35 #31814i know he’d need to improve, but as they say
<br>"if yer not in it"…..
November 21, 2006 at 01:47 #31815Well Chief had to improve to beat Moscow Flyer in the CC, (where he ran he best race imo)  but they had a crack

November 21, 2006 at 01:48 #31816I’d like to see them give it a go though I could never back Our Vic.
November 21, 2006 at 01:54 #31817Never say never FSL
every horse has a  price ÂÂÂ
There are no certanties in racing and who’s to say we’ve not  overestimated Kauto Star’s ability and Our Vic can’t improve  enough to put  pressure on KS for him to make an error which may cost him the race or KS runs below form etc

November 21, 2006 at 02:22 #31818Sorry EW I meant I colud never back Our Vic period. Never have, never will. That doesn’t mean I’m not out to get Kauto Star.

OUR VIC will have a maximum of two more runs before being aimed at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, according to his owner David Johnson.<br>The eight-year-old is in good form after his successful reappearance in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby last month, but connections want to ensure he is kept fresh for his main target of the season.<br>Johnson said: "Our Vic came back from Wetherby in terrific form and looked a picture when we boxed him to Carlisle to parade the following day.<br>"Our plan now is to aim for the Gold Cup and, as there are only a limited number of races en route to that, we want to select them carefully.<br>"It’s no secret that he goes best when fresh – that’s easy to see from the form book – and we intend to space his races before Cheltenham so that he’s at his peak for the Gold Cup.<br>"The two obvious targets beforehand are the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day and the Pillar Chase [now the Letherby & Christopher] at Cheltenham at the end of January.
Mmm, wonder why he’s such a big price on AP market if KG is pencilled in as a possible target
Maybe avoiding KS until the "big un" , which would be a shame as the KG is a different test to Chelters

November 21, 2006 at 02:51 #31820Maybe its not such a big target? Or maybe punters doubt he can run two good races in a row?
November 21, 2006 at 03:14 #31821Connections know he handles Chelters, so if they want him "fresh" the KG would be the ideal target, giving more time between races, plus it’s a different test to Cheltenham
November 21, 2006 at 04:09 #31822Do you work night shifts EW?
I’d want to know he was going before I could consider backing him. Hate it when an antepost bet doesn’t even make it to the race.
November 21, 2006 at 04:12 #31823Decent form with an excellent 3rd in RSA behind more experience older runners, no falls, no pulled up’s etc
Bunusprint Gold Cup 11 Dec 04
" he jumped the fence well enough, only to crumple badly on landing"
Daily Telegraph March 05
"prominent, pecked 11th, blundered 4 out, soon weakened, well behind when pulled up run-in"
Does he remember previous bad fall, is he lacking confidence?
Betfair Bowl April 05
"reminders after start, not fluent, went prominent 12th, lost place 15th, well behind when mistake 3 out, pulled up before next"
<br>Does he still remember previous bad experiences, is he still lacking confidence?
<br>Gets put away
<br>Plenty of time over summer for connections to recover his confidence shown prior to the fall in Bonusprint Gold Cup and plenty of time for him to  forget previous bad experiences

November 21, 2006 at 09:20 #31824Judging by the way everything else that has run in the Charlie Hall is performing, they are best giving him a good break. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that the plan is Costwold Chase then Gold Cup.
November 21, 2006 at 11:23 #31825the charlie hall chase hasnt turned out to be very good form. our vic has no chance with kauto star in my opinion. even when fresh
November 21, 2006 at 15:37 #31826EW, we must be seperated at birth.
i proposed the same arguments onhttps://theracingforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard/search.cgi?action=display 3 weeks ago.
and it seems we are part of a select non-believed group who are guaranteed a bigger price than we should come his next race.<br>We are right, everybody else must be wrong!!
looks like my Ante post punt on him for the King george at 40’s is down the swanny though, since he hasn’t been entered.
November 21, 2006 at 15:51 #31827in the charlie hall he basically stopped to jump the last! i feel he simply isnt good enough to win the gold cup. he has to be ridden around the outside, like to lead, doesnt like a scrap, and sulks if things dont go his way. does that sound like a gold cup winner?!?
November 21, 2006 at 17:12 #31828empty wallet,
Those trainer form % figures you listed under each of Our Vic’s recent runs – where did you get them from? Do you keep your own trainer form %’s each week :o or are they available on a form database?
Always wanted to get access to such figures to complete the ‘jigsaw’ of form study, but don’t have the time to compile my own.
So if you don’t do them yourself could you let me know where to get them please.
