As, probably, the first five in the betting for the Guineas haven’t set foot on a racecourse yet, I think it is much too early to be thinking in the terms you are.
By all means if you want to have a small interest throughout the year and the winter go on snap up the 50s. It could well be a GREAT price but it is impossible to speculate on VALUE at this stage.

June 23, 2008 at 08:30 #169805I’ll certainly be giving Orizaba another chance. His debut performance was impressive and things didn’t really go his way at Ascot.
June 23, 2008 at 08:54 #169806Orizaba did run a bit green, but I don’t think he’d have won the Coventry regardless- Art Connoisseur looks to have a bit too much pace for him and is at the moment a far better Guineas prospect, although the market reflects this and 16s isn’t a price I’d be too keen to take on any horse for the Guineas at this stage. I’ll be watching out for Orizaba when the 2y-os start tackling 7f & 1m.
June 23, 2008 at 09:59 #169807i set a reminder in my phone after it’s 1st run in may to back it for Ascot which i did i expected a much better run, but i wont be giving up on it yet!

I’ve got this horse down as very talent and backed it very heavily in the Coventry. Nothing you can do about the missed break but this won’t deter me from backing it well next time out as I do feel this horse has something good about it.
June 26, 2008 at 04:18 #170144Relatively cheaply bought with an uninspiring pedigree.
It’ll be amazing if numerous others haven’t improved beyond him by the end of this season, let alone the start of next.
Watch out for him winning a sprint or two for Dandy Nicholls in 3 years time, though!

ATR asked Richard Hannon Jnr who he was most looking forward to running at Royal Ascot (his Nap) and he said this Horse so he must be showing something at home??
June 26, 2008 at 12:37 #170181Richard Hannon, Mick Channon – you’ve got to have a system!

I believe Mick Channon hangs downwards; hope this helps
June 26, 2008 at 13:32 #170196Be difficult to assess Orizaba with any chance to crack Art Connoisseur last week. Watching the race again – and reading the pedigree – you have to pencil him in for the 2,000 Guineas just now.
Hey – they did the same 365 days ago and Henry completed the double.

LMAO
“Rhona Brewis, Simon Lewis!”
“Jim Best, Richard Guest!”
etc.

A somewhat better gene pool for ‘Henry’ – besides he doesn’t carry the millstone of being a Maktoum purchase!
June 26, 2008 at 14:12 #170205Neither does Art Connoisseur.
For now.
July 30, 2008 at 15:25 #175336Thought it would be worth resurrecting this thread – a good performance today, 2000gns for next year?
