No, would need to improve an awful lot but his win does boost the form of Mastercraftsman.

Orizaba’s win at Newbury was a nice eyecatching time but struggled to improve on that at Ascot or Goodwood which indicates to me if trained right he could have a decent turn of foot over a mile next year and im on for the Guineas personally.
September 25, 2008 at 03:15 #182226Mr Wilson,
The world and his dog seemed to write Orizaba off pre-Ascot as the horse was ridiculously green.
I’d put a line through that race completley
I’m tempted by Orizaba if he runs…..It is a very competitive race though so I may steer clear completely.
Weald Park is interesting at 16’s if declared. He ran on very well in the last furlong over 7 at Newmarket last time out and wouldve caught Dascombe’s horse if the race was over a mile
September 25, 2008 at 06:19 #182229It’s all well and good backing him at fancy prices for the Guineas but bear in mind that he’s been purchased by the Maktoums and so will no doubt join Godolphin at the end of his 2yo campaign and be next seen in a conditions event at Nottingham in September 2010.
September 25, 2008 at 14:34 #182245Wasn’t there a story a while ago, which was denied by godolphin, that Mark Johnston would be training Godolphins 2yo’s? By the looks of it they have just been bought under his son’s name and trained elsewhere. They’d be better off employing Johnston given Suroor’s current performance. To be fair to Suroor I have no idea how he is meant to train horses in two different continents at the same time. Just not feasible and the results are bearing that out.
September 25, 2008 at 14:46 #182246I like this horse and he has the best form in the Royal Lodge though a number of runners are open to improvement.and he has to give 3lbs to all but one runner. On breeding he could find a mile too far but if he is going to develop into a genuine guineas candidate he will need to win this.
September 25, 2008 at 18:14 #182276With Lord Shanakill, Sayif and Soul City behind him last time his proven form over 7f should ensure Orizaba starting around 5/2f.
Soul City was quite impressive last time in France - AuthorPosts
