“What price Larry the cat? There’s a fantastic video of him chasing a fox off.”
Here it is. I have never seen a cat square up to a fox before but I suppose it happens. They must encounter each other a lot. Male cats are very territorial.
The fox looks more scared than Larry does.
October 17, 2022 at 07:30 #1618849I think Sunak is plenty short enough in an uncertain scenario.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 17, 2022 at 08:37 #1618859Hunt to make a statement later regarding the Special Fiscal Operation.
It’s a open goal for Labour, there’s an easy attack line regardless of whether or not the Tories do anything. They’ve completely painted themselves into a corner.
Election this year in to 13 from 20 a few days ago. 4.3 next year and still odds on they limp pathetically through to 2024.
October 17, 2022 at 12:43 #1618883I can’t do a link but I listened to a fascinating interview with Alastair Campbell on utube last night. He was pushing his book I assume. Being pre blogs and twitter it was a fascinating insight into politics then and now. It was called ‘ Alastair Campbell in Conversation: Politics the people and the press 21/5/2013 The British Library’. I’d read recently that Murdoch is calling for an election and a Labour government and in this interview Campbell had said thatMurdoch only backed Labour back then because he knew they were going to win and he wanted to back the winner. It’s a very long interview and I’m going to listen to the second half of it later. It popped up after one of the wonderful Rory Stewart/Alastair Campbell podcasts.
October 17, 2022 at 14:31 #1618908Truss is sending Mordaunt to the Commons to answer questions today.
I suppose it is not unusual for Prime Ministers to delegate tasks but when the situation is so serious, it does not look good when the Prime Minister looks like she has gone missing.
October 17, 2022 at 14:59 #1618914Some on the job training for Mordaunt? Often the best way I find.
Also another massive open goal for opposition parties.
October 17, 2022 at 16:58 #1618925I wouldn’t be a fan of Jeremy Hunt personally but, after Johnson, Truss and their equally hapless underlings, he’s a notch up on anything Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have had to deal with since the 2019 election.

October 17, 2022 at 17:44 #1618931It’s the old “still a Tory” thing!
He savaged the NHS as Health Secretary, but he looks positively moderate compared to Truss and her neo-liberal cronies.
He’s certainly more formidable at the despatch box than anyone I’ve seen in government for a while, Sunak included.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 17, 2022 at 18:29 #1618941The bar is very low, but Hunt has steadied the ship a little bit
October 17, 2022 at 18:43 #1618954He might have steadied the ship but the subs are ready to fire there torpedeos ….I reckon tomorrow maybe the day , the fact she didn’t have to front to face the chamber today confirms how out her depth she is , Mordount tried but she couldn’t cover that …easy points for Labour
October 17, 2022 at 18:54 #1618956“The bar is very low, but Hunt has steadied the ship a little bit”
Fair comment IMO.

I can’t help itOctober 17, 2022 at 19:11 #1618958Sturgeon using a bad news day to put out that independent Scotland will have a Scottish pound …..you can’t spend a Scottish tenner in London as it is just now as legal tender , it’ll be 1000 Scottish pounds to the pound ….in line with the rouble ….you,ve got to laugh
October 17, 2022 at 21:39 #1618969Ireland succeeds v well as an independent country; no reason why Scotland shouldn’t also prosper. Tho a Labour govt might (might) make a vote fro independence less likely
October 17, 2022 at 22:16 #1618970So just about the entire ‘mini budget’ has been scrapped but the pound is still well below where it was a month ago, mortgage rates are still through the roof (geddit?!), inflation isn’t going anywhere. Good luck pretending the last month didn’t happen.
October 18, 2022 at 05:10 #1618976Ireland also has the Euro ….
