“I know Ben, if I was as bad at my job as this lot I’d have been down the dole office years ago. These clowns get promoted.”
What a world we live in, I think everyone would be much happier if they just ignored all this nonsense, I don’t think I’ve ever read any political news and afterwards thought “oh good I feel happier now”.
Sometimes ignorance really is bliss, they’ll all shaft us regardless of whose in power and there’s f*** all we can do to change it.

I flatter myself I am occasionally a master of understatement, Richard!

October 14, 2022 at 14:25 #1618403It seems to me that in the last 48 hours The Daily Mail has started to turn on her.

‘Growth’
‘Economic stability’
‘National interest’
‘Energy price guarantee’She’s just promising to fix all the stuff they broke over the last month.
October 14, 2022 at 14:43 #1618409That press conference was excruciating. No wonder she cut it short, although walking out was not exactly impressive either.
October 14, 2022 at 14:45 #1618410She couldn’t get out of there quickly enough.
October 14, 2022 at 15:20 #1618416Now we have a complete “Jeremy” as chancellor.
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysOctober 14, 2022 at 15:51 #1618422I’m surprised no one asked Truss why she felt her staying on as Prime Minister is in the ‘National interest,’ which she claims to make a virtue of prioritising.

They might as well have done that when Johnson went. Either way she’s dead woman walking. But everyone knew she would be useless.
October 14, 2022 at 16:54 #1618433The press conference was a horror show on every level.
This bit in particular is relevant:
“She started with a personal plea about how she knew what it was like growing up “somewhere that isn’t feeling the benefits of growth”. This was a reference to the time she spent in Paisley as a child, but she had a middle-class upbringing and spent her teenage years living in one of the nicest parts of Leeds. Her implied sob story sounded phoney.”
Truss, the daughter of a university lecturer (who the last time I checked are quite well paid), has tried this tiresome trick before.
She attended Roundhay School, which she claims held people back. It is so terrible that it has its own Wikipedia entry, including details of its alumni:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundhay_School
Truss was so disadvantaged that she managed to get to Merton College, Oxford to read PPE.
Given what PPE graduates have done to the country, I am starting to think they should be disqualified from public life.
October 14, 2022 at 16:59 #1618436I’d love to hear what is being said in private. Some of the comments that have leaked out are bad enough.
October 14, 2022 at 18:28 #1618445Big G it’s a well known interview , just Google Nicola economy interview ….I’m not a Tory therefore I don’t go on there websites , you agree with her regarding faslane therefore your happy for 1000s of Scots to lose there jobs ? , as regards to calling her a wee lassie , the point I’m making is she wants to have her cake and eat it , independence but retaining the pound etc , she,s the Scottish struss , making empty promises she can’t back up
October 14, 2022 at 19:49 #1618452It’s a bugger been an accountant. I’ve been telling some clients for the last few weeks that it no longer matters to increase profits in the present period to pay corporation tax at 19% as the tax rate is not increasing in the near future, only for her to now make a U-turn on that one
October 14, 2022 at 20:55 #1618463Can Truss last longer than George Canning? He did at least have the excuse of dying in office and was a Foreign Secretary of some consequence, unlike her.

October 14, 2022 at 22:44 #1618468I’ve just re listened to her speech. Why did she say ‘the way we are delivering our mission’? What a strange term to use. It made her sound evangelical. What a day. HIGNFY was great but I wish The Last Leg was still on as well.

——————————————Are you talking about the Andrew Neil interview 6 years ago, or the interview this month
where she is interviewed by Ceiran Jenkins who she doesn’t let have his way and
winds him round her little finger. The search you mention brings up both of which
bring up the interviews named in that tory rag otherwise known as Daily Express. Her intentions, if you listened to the interview, was to use the pound, which we are
entitled to, with a Scottish Bank as lender of last resort. Thereafter a Scottish
pound. I wouldn’t rule out the Euro. It was a disasterous decision to leave the EU
in the first place. Scotland would rejoin. I’m not saying I want Independence, but
leaving the EU was a mistake. As for calling her a wee lassie, would you call her male couterpart a wee laddie who
goes home to get his washing done?. It’s clear where you’re coming from. As for being
the Scottish Truss, as you put it. she’s been in power for 9 years and Truss is on borrowed
time after a number of weeks.Mind you, It’s good of you to worry about all those Scots at Faslane losing their
jobs, but think on the positive side, you could clear up the unemployment in your
area with the Neuks on your back door. You’re welcome to them. You either believe in self determination, or you don’t. What’s it got to do with you
if the people of Scotland want to be independent, however little you think of Sturgeon.
It’s up to them. -
