I confidently predicted much of what has happened.

But not on this rapid scale.

I knew the membership electing a right-wing candidate who wasn’t even remotely close to being the first choice of the parliamentary MPs was a recipe for Civil War.

I knew Truss would be callous, looking to cut from the bottom of society and rewarding the already wealthy top end.

But what I didn’t see was all this happening quite so fast – I didn’t foresee the scale of this “mini budget” or the catastrophic financial market reaction to it.

The media love eternal drama and even in the wake of all this I thought she would survive and end up fighting the next election.

I am now really not so sure.

There has to be a casualty of this mess and the surely impending u-turn.

I can’t see the Chancellor lasting much longer despite the brevity of his tenure.

But that might only temporarily delay the day when she goes herself.

    A Sunak-Mordaunt ticket?

    How would THAT work?

Fewer insane policies, but surely a recipe for yet more in fighting.

It feels like a long time since the country was actually governed.

‘There has to be a casualty of this mess’

There have been many casualties already (which I realise you are more than aware of). Anyone trying to get a mortgage or with one up for renewal soon for a start. People with already stretched budgets seeing the cost of everyday things going up even more (not helped by the tanking pound). People worried sick that they’ll wake up in the morning to find their pension has disappeared.

This entire government needs to go, they are not fit for office. If there is to be a change of PM it has to be through an election this time, we can’t just keep letting the Tories try someone out every few weeks in the hope that they find someone competent.

I’ve never read a fairy story quite like it and it’s far worse than Grimm…

After the witch entices the two children; a blond haired little girl and a strapping curly haired boy, into her little house, which is hidden deep in the dark forest and with the false promise of Turkish delights, she proceeds to lock the front door, and they never see the light of day again. The big lad ends up in a pot and the little girl is told to sit on a bench at the back and peel some spuds.

The rumour mill has gone into overdrive that Kwarteng is about to be sacked, with Truss possibly not far behind.

It could be journalists getting overexcited but nothing would surprise me at the moment.

Well the first part of the double is in Cork.

The only shorter serving Chancellor died in office apparently.

Would have preferred the second half to have come in instead because then I could expect to receive a payment from Ladbrokes.

It might still happen. I do not see how she can continue. Her entire leadership pitch was based on cutting taxes to stimulate growth and she has done a complete U turn on it in less than a month, when you take into account how politics was on hold for two weeks just after she took office.

There is simply no point in her being there. She does not have a shred of credibility left.

I think there will probably have to be a General Election soon.

Which Andrew Neil interview are you reffering to HDLG, could you identify it and I’ll
gladly go over it. I hope you’re not reffering to the one put on by the Tory Express on
their site, and on Youtube in November 2021, where he “Shames Nicola Sturgeon 10 time in
just 43 seconds during car crash interview” That would be the one where he talks for 43
seconds, and the tape stops the second she opens her mouth. If it is that one, I’d appreciate
the whole transcript, or if it’s another interview, again I’d appreciate if you could point
    me in the right direction.

“She wants Trident out of Faslane”, pick anywhere in England you’d like it situated, just think
of the added security you’d have.

Are you actually listening to yourself, this is a 52 year old woman who’s been
First Minister for 9 years. This is one of the most misogynistic comments I’ve head
on here for a long time.

If only things were just as peachy up here as they are down south. Incidently,
were you aware your chancellor just got the sack. The 2nd shortest termed
chancellor in history (and only because the 1st one took a heart attack)

Oh wad some power the gifty gie us to see ourselves as others see us.

He wouldn’t have returned from America so hastily if he wasn’t going to be sacked. But his plans for the economy were hers too. They are politically joined at the hip.I’ll be watching Truss’s speech wearing my newly acquired Anti Growth Coalition t shirt. What a mess it all is.

‘I think there will probably have to be a General Election soon.’

As I have said if Truss goes, there surely has to be one. In electing her, the Tories are effectively saying this is the best we’ve got (stop laughing at the back). How can they credibly force yet another leader on us in a matter of what is essentially a few weeks?

I feel like I should be saying someone pinch me, please

“There has to be a casualty of this mess”

And there we have it – the political casualty I was referring to.

But his policies were her policies, if she thinks she washes her hands of all that has happened by making he along take the fall for it, she’s an optimist.

    Her days are numbered too.

Imagine a business that had a revolving door of staff like our political parties do, they’d fail and be shut down within a month, absolute embarrassment how useless they all are, no wonder I stopped paying attention to all this incompetency – to think these mongs are running the country! It’s depressing more than anything.

I know Ben, if I was as bad at my job as this lot I’d have been down the dole office years ago. These clowns get promoted.

Ian, ‘optimist’ is a very polite word there!

Betfair 20 that we get an election this year, time is running out but it’s still 4.6 for 2023.
