Moehat said: “When Johnson and Sturgeon were doing those covid daily briefings we always listened to hers as she made far more sense. I do admire her and would love to have her as a Labour MP.”
‘Her’ record re covid in Scotland was no better than England. Care home deaths were actually worse than England’s.
Her continuing of restrictions end 2021/early 2022 whilst England had less restrictions proved to be totally ineffective. In fact, in late January when England’s mask wearing rules were dropped, but Scotland’s werent, Scotland had a higher covid infection rate.
Thankfully, Boris and HMG provided England with greater freedoms – my life has been pretty much normal for over 12 months now.As for you loving her to be a Labour MP, unfortunately the One-trick pony that is Sturgeon is so hell bent on Scot Inde, and Labour does NOT support Scot Inde. Scottish Labour are in favour of Scotland remaining in the Union.
October 13, 2022 at 01:32 #1618246I HATE GAMBLE !
October 13, 2022 at 08:07 #1618259Wilts. I meant I would like her to be a Labour MP because she is a great communicator and passionate about what she believes in. I didn’t mean as Labour MP with SNP policies ( if that makes sense). I’m totally pro union
October 13, 2022 at 10:21 #1618269Wilts, you don’t get one trick ponies ruling a democratic country for
for 9 years unless the people of Scotland think she is far better than
any of the opposition parties. I’ll lay you any money that she and her
party will win hands down at the next elecction up here.“my life has been pretty much normal for 12 months now”
If you are trying to paint Boris as some kind of saviour, he was
that good that his own party kicked him out. As for Sturgeon and
the SNP. We could trade stats to make various claims, the bottom
line is that politicians made decisions. I don’t think the wearing
of masks was respponsible for any increase as Scotland took a canny
approach. Were mistakes made, undoubtedly, none more so than Boris’s
decision that checks were not required on patients returning to care
homes after being in hospital with covid and showing no ill effects.Sturgeon did her best, and if it meant Scot’s wore masks longer than
their English counterparts, I can live with that. Incidently, we still
wear them going to the doctor, dentist and small shops, it’s no big deal,
well not to the Scots anyway.I’m glad you’ve been living “normally” for the past year, my sons partner
in Lomdon caught the virus during that time and my daughter law in Oxford
als0 caught it (for the 2nd time). Thankfully They are doing well now.I hope you and your family stay safe Wilts.
October 13, 2022 at 10:45 #1618270Replacing Truss a ‘disastrously bad idea’ says Cleverly. Polls would suggest that keeping her isn’t a great idea either. Quite the quandary.
October 13, 2022 at 11:37 #1618272I wish people in England still wore masks. Mike and I still do. I’ve noticed that people in Eastern countries continue to wear masks. It was beginning to be part of the culture in England, too, till Johnson stopped it ( prematurely in my opinion). I shall continue to wear a mask in public places for the forseeable future to protect myself and those around me. I think Sturgeon showed far greater leadership throughout the pandemic that Johnson did.
October 13, 2022 at 12:03 #1618273The Anti-Growth Coalition™ is polling nearly three quarters of the vote at the moment.
October 13, 2022 at 12:19 #1618276I certainly wouldn’t like to see Scotland secede from the Union.
Nichola Sturgeon is a good speaker, does not go off half cocked and has always done her homework before making any speech.
Compare that to the shallow, half-witted Truss.

a lot of politicians lack, common sense.October 13, 2022 at 18:15 #1618331Superb from Charles, more please.
October 13, 2022 at 18:23 #1618332Agreed, I think that said it all from the King. She shouldn’t be allowed
out alone.October 13, 2022 at 19:29 #1618338Big G
Scotland is split down the middle and has been for years. The SNP got 45% share of vote in GE 2019. In Scottish parliament elections in 2021 i believe it was much the same.
In devolved government they rely on The Greens.
Their record on NHS Scotland is under question, same in education.
Poverty in Scotland – Scotland under the SNP is doing worse in respect of all the main measures of poverty – relative poverty, persistent poverty, child poverty, severe poverty, in-work poverty and pensioner poverty. While poverty rates had been steadily declining in Scotland for many years, once the SNP took over that decline stopped and poverty began increasing again.
Residents of Scotland can expect to die on average two years earlier than citizens of Britain as a whole. Even worse, if you live in one of the most deprived areas of Scotland you can expect to live for 13 years less than Scots in the least deprived areas. The drug death total in Scotland reached 1264 deaths in 2019. The death rate from drugs is 15 times worse than Germany and 35 times worse than France. Under the SNP, Scotland is the drug death capital of Europe.
To answer one of your specifics
“Were mistakes made, undoubtedly, none more so than Boris’s
decision that checks were not required on patients returning to care
homes after being in hospital with covid and showing no ill effects.”The policy was a jointly agreed policy between all governments in the UK and the various NHS execs, at the time. It was NOT a Stand-alone decision by HMG.
Covid – i caught it in late June. Likely infected at back end of my Algarve vacation. We were socialising like any other year. I dont live like a hermit; despite being 60 i’m as comfortable and happy in a late night music bar as i was when i was in my 20s. I knew the uptick in risk by abandoning the ‘earlier’ Stay at Home message. I’m a human being, i love to chat and socialise. It is normal and good for my mental health.
On Day 1 of covid my immune system went into overdrive, as it (together with all 3 jabs), battled the initial infection; severe headache for c24 hours (no tabs would shift it). Severe aches & pains like i’ve never experienced before, fever, upset stomach, lost my appetite. Day 2 – unbelievably all symptoms disappeared bar a slight sniffle. Maybe i was just lucky or maybe (fingers crossed) my underlying health is good or maybe the vaccines did ‘a job’. Who knows?October 13, 2022 at 20:11 #1618340Even Larry the Cat does not want to know her:
October 14, 2022 at 02:11 #1618347U-turn if you want to !
If mini was chucked immediately into hell in a handcart – by my rough math we’d still be 15-20 billion down in confidence tokens.
Send in the clowns to clear up this goddamned godawful godforsaken gamble, and stop that nodding dog Zahawi from perpetually NODDING.October 14, 2022 at 03:39 #1618350Well Wilts, I guess we’re just a bunch of dum ***** north of the border.
The SNP only managed 45% 0F The vote in the last general election. Up
8.1 from previous election and won 48 out of 59 seats a gain of 13
seats and 81% of the Scottish seats in whitehall. Oh it’s the stats
game again, how’s your stabbing record doing down there.Education records and poverty records, do you really want me to
post the governments 2021 record on both. Did you even bother to look
or was this a daily Mail special?A joint policy, with Boris as PM on returning to care homes? ok, if you
say so. You’re clearly not a fan of Scotland, to put it politely,
(although you’ll no doubt deny it) You just need to read between the lines.
But I wouldn’t worry too much, you may not have to suffer us much longer. You don’t have to be a weather man to know the way the wind blows.
