Wow, I didn’t realise Ollie Magern had a Timeform squiggle.
I just thought he was poorly handicapped in recent years as he got older, maybe tenderly-ridden sometimes as well in an effort to reduce his mark. He ran some decent races even when unable to lead as well – his last William Hill Chase appearance was quite respectable for example. Maybe I should rephrase what I said in that he was consistent and game when given realistic opportunities.
I cannot think of any times he disappointed when stable confidence was behind him.
