“Easterby was interviewed about her at Ripon last week and was quite bullish that she’s back to her best.”
“She looks like she’s gone at the game, but I don’t pay the bills and running her is a free bet on getting a prize-money percentage for me.”
Said no trainer ever (not in public anyway).
This is why I never take a blind bit of notice of anything that comes out of any trainer’s mouth ever.
That said, I hope this one was telling the truth – I’m on Winter Power at long odds!

His Twitter feeds are excellent.August 19, 2022 at 09:35 #1611792I’m very confident of a good run here from Winter Power, and I’ve taken 22-1.
I also liked Flotus, and added her at 12-1
August 19, 2022 at 09:41 #1611793I’m not at all confident – Winter Power looks like she’s gone at the game.
But I can’t not back at those odds last year’s decisive winner on similar ground in a renewal that looks no stronger.
It’s a race where, if you plunged on Royal Aclaim at under 3/1 and Winter Power won it at 20s, you’d be saying: “why did I fall for the hype? It was a 108 jolly in a Group 1! And why didn’t I have a few quid on last year’s WINNER at 20s! Where’s the nearest bridge?”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 19, 2022 at 09:49 #1611799Plumped for Flotus at 12s. She has a good draw and is a recent C&D winner. De Sousa rides York well.
Admittedly Royal Aclaim has a good draw, as well, but i rarely back short-priced favs.
Best of luck to allAugust 19, 2022 at 10:31 #1611804“Plumped for Flotus at 12s. She has a good draw and is a recent C&D winner.”
Flotus’s course win was over 6f.
She was sixth in a listed race on her only career attempt at 5f thus far and this is a fast 5f.
But for that I’d fancy her chances too.

Highfield princessAll likely wanting to go forward they should go some early pace here
Can see there being a pace collapse myself

August 19, 2022 at 15:49 #1611893Whether it was a poor Group 1 or not, got to love the winner.
Value Is EverythingAugust 19, 2022 at 16:04 #1611897I played the Platinum Queen.
Disappointed she didn’t win off that weight, she didn’t break as sharp as I’d have liked and was running around a bit however the winner is a nice horse and deserved itBlackbeard to conquer the World

August 19, 2022 at 22:48 #1611947The only horse with recent group 1 form won
In hindsight it was obvious
Once she showed she could lay up with them in the first 2 furlongs there was only 1 winner
I imagine they may target the abbaye now as this 5f division is much weaker than the 6f division

Did really well to finish second. Just a baby but could be a good one if they don’t ruin her this year. Worthy winner. Came up through the ranks and proved herself a true Group 1 horse.

In one of the weakest Group One races ever. 🤔

It’s the weight-for-age – it’s broadly correct – she’s run a blinder IMO.
Would anyone oppose her in the Flying Childers back among her peers?
As for a weak Group 1, the third and fourth seem to have run to their 113 and 110 marks and it looks a smart effort by the winner to me who has now won Group 1s at 5f and 6f110yds.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 20, 2022 at 09:02 #1611991It is “weight for age”, but I think what Tonge is rightly alluding to is that many of us believe the scale favours two year olds to quite a large degree.
If I had a 5f two year old of Group 2 quality I’d definitely go for the Nunthorpe and Abbeye.
Value Is EverythingAugust 20, 2022 at 09:27 #1611994It was probably a better race than it looked beforehand. Suspect they were career bests for both the front two, but not as much as the form line to the third and fourth suggest. Despite other prominent horses doing well Khaadem weakened noticeably in the final furlong and Emaraati Ana stayed on. So imo that pair were a little below their current ratings. The former has temperament issues and the latter appears best at 6f these days.
