Tycoon Prince was hugely impressive today at Punchestown. His jumping wasn’t perfect and he wanted to go left at times so to win so comfortably against good opposition despite this has laid down the benchmark for the season at this early stage. There’s every chance he was the best of last season’s Irish bumper horses, and prices of 25/1 for the Neptune look pretty big.
October 28, 2015 at 20:33 #1219461Good luck Tommy with the novice hurdlers, half the battle is getting the right races for them so fingers crossed, it’s The Neptune for Typhoon. Nice run round for him yesterday.
October 29, 2015 at 16:45 #1219517Not high on bumper horses from last season so a horse running in France for my supreme novice hurdle as you know Tommy put him up in your thread that is MIN 16/1 i got for him think he can follow in same footsteps as Douvan and Vautour over hurdles.
November 2, 2015 at 20:00 #1220179One of last season’s most promising bumper performers, Yanworth, makes his hurdling debut at Exeter tomorrow. Longer trips have been touted for him but he travels quite strongly so two miles looks the ideal place to start him off. Looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
November 2, 2015 at 20:25 #1220181Backed yanworth 25/1 for neptune and 12/1 to win any race. Was the big eye catcher for me in the champion bumper. And looking for a big run tomorrow. The Skelton horse Welsh shadow has been very highly touted and he nominated him as his top novice hurdle prospect in the yard. Would be very nice to see yanworth come past him on the bit.
November 4, 2015 at 12:42 #1220331YORKHILL my other novice hurdler to follow won bumper last year had OK Corral behind him and Sandymount Duke.Way Mullins talk about him in stable tour saying he had gears but also likely going up in trip for him Neptune looks right race for him.
November 8, 2015 at 13:25 #1220729Long dog looks an absolute machine now. With three stars making easy work of tycoon prince , archive and Thomas hobs on and serving it up to bachasson. Get on at 12s to win any race.
Entered for cheltenham Friday against the very highly touted champers on ice.November 8, 2015 at 13:32 #1220733Tycoon Prince very disappointing there. He looked woefully slow and you’d be hoping something will come to light to explain such listless effort. Archive was probably the one horse in the race you’d use as a yardstick but he’s another who has ran a shocker. Thomas Hobson ran well considering how hard he pulled, but as rocky says the winner has given a nice boost to a couple of Mullins other horses, namely Bachasson and in particular Long Dog.
November 8, 2015 at 14:06 #1220736Tycoon price beat what was put in front of him last time very nicely. Buy I’ll think we’ll see that the horses behind were no superstars. Long dog gets the 2m4 trip very well. So will be interesting to see if mullins brings his supreme horse out in the royal bond at the end of the month. Min, bellshill or yorkhill.

Bellshill and Yorkhill both look like they’ll need more than two miles, even though they might take in maiden hurdles over the trip. Yorkhill in particular one I’m looking forward to seeing again.
Tycoon Prince toyed with a couple of decent horses last time. That was an above average maiden hurdle imo and he won easily despite doing several things wrong. Obviously today’s run was very disappointing but the fact he finished so weakly hopefully signals something was amiss for a horse that is ultimately a stayer.
November 8, 2015 at 15:47 #1220752Agreed about bellshill and yorkhill to step up in trip later in the season, Both look neptune horses but obviously both owned by wylie so wouldn’t be suprised at all by either staying at 2 miles.
To me last season nichols canyon looked a supreme horse all over and shaneshill a neptune horse.November 8, 2015 at 15:50 #1220753Agreed about bellshill and yorkhill to step up in trip later in the season, Both look neptune horses but obviously both owned by wylie so wouldn’t be suprised at all by either staying at 2 miles.
To me last season nichols canyon looked a supreme horse all over and shaneshill a neptune horse.Agreed, think they were in the wrong races. Both are effective between 2-2.5 miles but feel Shaneshill probably wants two and a half to be seen at his best.
November 10, 2015 at 09:52 #1220975Some very interesting entries for the royal bond from willie.
November 12, 2015 at 22:46 #1221434I was quite impressed by Modus today, I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on him during the winter.
November 15, 2015 at 13:03 #1221820St Stephens green very poor there Tommy. Not what tycoon prince fans would want to see
November 17, 2015 at 18:49 #1222066Very poor alright Rocky, I was hoping for a better showing. Joshua Lane is out tomorrow, but you wouldn’t know what to expect from him, I’d say it’s likely he has a post-Christmas handicap as his target, possibly the Boylesports Hurdle at Leopardstown.
November 25, 2015 at 20:21 #1223258Petit mouchoir out tomorrow. Iv been waiting to see him over hurdles and noticed he was entered in the royal bond and is running over 2 miles at Thurles.
Iv been all over him all summer backing him for the albert bartlett and recently covered him for the neptune at 36.0 on the exchange.
Looks like a bartlett horse to me and gordon elliott said he’s not the quickest but he stays all day long.
Now in the hands of willie I’m slightly worried about all the 2 mile entries but don’t want to back him for the supreme. Hope for a bold show tomorrow and hopefully willie to talk about him stepping up in trip. -
