“I hate him for a more basic reason: he’s got a s*** haircut.”

So it’s not ok for me to say Owen Jones looks like a teenager who still bursts acne spots but IS ok to say this fella has a dodgy haircut?

The distinction is lost on me!

    Made me laugh, though.

The distinction, Ian, is that you were judging what Jones says on his appearance, essentially saying that because he looks young his opinions are worthless.

I am merely pointing out that Djokovic has crap hair.

    I knew I’d be wrong!

Actually, I don’t judge Jones on his appearance – it was a mere gratuitous aside – and you’re saying you “hate” a man because of his hair!

If that’s not judging him, what is?

Not that I care, tbh – teenage-faced know alls, anti-vaxxers with allegedly dodgy barnets, they’re all fair game in The Lounge!

Novax has said he’s got immunity because he had Covid.

Trouble is there are photo’s of him at award ceremonies both on the day and day after he’s said to have tested positive.

If that is the case then Novax is a liar. :negative:

Why does this make him a liar? Stupid and selfish maybe by perhaps knowingly spreading the virus.

IMO he probably contracted the virus deliberately so he could have exemption from the vaccine whilst still playing the Aussie Open.

Pictures show him without a mask, shaking hands and very close to other people after he was supposedly diagnosed with covid, Homer.
I just can’t imagine he was as “stupid and selfish” to knowingly spread the virus.

Suspect the covid positive is a fake and he’s a liar.
But yes, stupid and selfish is the alternative.

Either way he’s not coming out of this well. :negative:

By not taking the vaccine Novak believes there is no risk of serious illness from this, so will believe he is doing nothing wrong.

The aussies aren’t looking good either, potentially holding an innocent man captive.

    Their country, their rules.

Rather than being a “captive,” he’s welcome to go any time he likes – so long as it’s on a plane out of the country whose rules he doesn’t want to comply with but whose prize money he would have liked to have picked up.

    I cannot sympathise with him.

According to him/his lawyers he hasn’t broken any rules. The country’s tennis authorities invited him to the country to compete stipulating that he would be allowed in as he was exempt from having the vaccine. Whether the paperwork was incorrectly completed by Novak’s team, they have misinterpreted the rules or whether the aussies are just making an example of him, no-one knows at present. At least he has a team around him to get through this ordeal.

    “Their country, their rules.”

It really is that simple, doesn’t matter if you’re Novak or nobody.

Why did it take days for any of his representatives to tell us that he got the exemption after recent infection? Seems a simple and easy to prove reason, he must have had a certificate to show the positive result. Could have just shown us that and it’s end of story.

He can believe what he likes about the virus, Australia can make their rules as they see fit.

Being waited on hand and foot in a 5 star hotel is an “ordeal” that I could put up with.

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highways

He isn’t in a 5 star hotel – rather an unpleasant place.

It will be interesting to see what happens on Monday.

If his legal team manage to pull this one off will, the French, British and the USA then allow him to play in their “grand slam tournaments”?

Seems totally unfair to me if that is allowed to happen.

“Trouble is there are photo’s of him at award ceremonies both on the day and day after he’s said to have tested positive.”

Said to be the more effective type of test, for which one has to wait for results, unlike lateral flow which is said to be less reliable but where the result is more or less instant.

It may be that he was tested on one day but did not know he was positive until the next.
