Fairly happy with that last Saturday, money back for Romain De Senam, and despite disappointing, Peregrine gave me a clear profit on the day, being main bet.
Only one bet since then, and that was the disappointing Chiefofchiefs on Saturday.
Absolutely love Galway/Goodwood week, and I’ll no doubt be betting most races at the two meetings from today, but I’ll only put select ones on here. Couple of Antepost losers in Escobar and Saint Roi, so just being cautious, for all they were token Anteposts
Sat out Galway yesterday, as couldn’t see a bet at all. Couple of really decent races, but just too tough.
Got a bet on every race at Goodwood today, cracking card, but as per big race threads, main hopes are the outsiders Sir Dancealot, and Princess Zoe.
I’m still making my mind up about Saltonstall at Galway. He’s due at some point, but I was hoping next time I bet him he would be bigger odds. Quite like Telecon earlier on the card. Very impressive at Ballinrobe last time, and the 10’s looked generous. The current 9’s is too big as well.
Midnight Run looked superb at Ballinrobe too, and hoping to see a good round of jumping here. Too short for me today, but there’s serious potential there, and one to follow.

Goodwood Cup – Princess Zoe EW
1710 Galway – Telecon 10’sJuly 27, 2022 at 11:45 #1608949Damp squib yesterday, though no worries with the Goodwood pair at those prices. Princess Zoe perhaps not one to persevere with. Telecon was frustrating as he was the only normal bet, and I was safely getting my money back until that mistake two out.
As per race thread, got two, possibly three in The Galway Plate.
Elsewhere on the card, I was going to swerve The Flying Scotsman, but the price was decent, and I’ve bet to lay off, rather than take EW. In the last, Dark Voyager looks a big price on his run at The Curragh. He’ll be a late decision along with stablemate Annamix in The Plate.
Had a mixed day in the supporting races at Goodwood yesterday, but playing every race again. The only one I’m putting up though is Stunning Beauty, who’s not built on her early promise. Thankfully not bet her too often, but got to be worth a go at this price. Again, bet to lay off, rather than EW

July 28, 2022 at 13:26 #1609149Thanks mate, appreciated.
Really happy with The Plate yesterday. Battleoverdoyen was a fair sized bet, so the EW 50’s was very welcome, while Darasso got me a fair old profit at the end in running. Pleased that the two picked out at entry stage were right there, and any day where horses at 33’s and 50’s run like that, then it’s a good one.
Happy with Flying Scotsman too, and money safely back in running. Stunning Beauty will have to be dropped though.
Promised myself that if The Plate, which was a fair sized betting race for me, went well, I wouldn’t bother with The Galway Hurdle. I’ll stick to that. With Saint Roi absent, I don’t have a strong fancy, so I’m finally, finally, learning. and not having a bet in a big race just for the sake of it. Looked at Autumn Evening and Celestial Horizon, but I’ll sit it out.
In the end, decided to enjoy today without a bet. Nice profit yesterday, and that’ll do with a busy Friday coming up.
Main race for me at Goodwood tomorrow is The Golden Mile, and I’m with two, as per race thread.
Cracking day at Galway, and The Galway Blazer is a belter. I can’t leave out my big hope from last year, Coach Carter, while backup will be Aramax or Batcio. Prices will dictate.
Elsewhere on the card I’ll be with Hearts Are Trumps EW, assuming he’s an EW proposition. The Shunter will be added later on if he’s a backable price. I just like this horse, but he might be short. (Non Runner), and the same applies to Call Me Lyreen, who is a horse I’m seriously interested in over fences this year.
Still Standing has disappointing recent form, but I watched him for a while, and I’ll give him a go if he’s a price.
I’m assuming Nibblers Charm will be a price in the last, and I’ll go with him for first time in a while.
Quite a few, possibly too many, but nice day yesterday, and sitting out today, so I’m comfortable with it.
List may be edited later once prices firm.

Nibblers Charm 25’s EW 5plsJuly 29, 2022 at 09:30 #1609279Those were three good selections on Wednesday! Darasso nearly made it. And impressive restraint, yesterday. But I think Autumn Evening squeaked into a place on Skybet which paid 7 places. A pity I did not follow your lead. I am going through a long losing sequence. Good luck today with the selections.
July 29, 2022 at 12:27 #1609301Cheers Sungold. Thought Autumn Evening was a good bet, but it would have been a smaller bet off the back of that Saint Roi Antepost, so not too worried. Celestial Horizon definitely one for later in the season, yesterday certainly wasn’t the day for him.
July 30, 2022 at 09:24 #1609456Complete washout yesterday, and not a bean taken back. In hindsight, Still Standing and Nibblers Charm shouldn’t have been put up, as I’ve said 100 times now, the more selections I have, the worse it goes.
That fair ate into my Wednesday winnings, particularly The Blazer, so bit more careful today.
Goes without saying that I’ll be betting old Euchen Glen, but I’ll bet him every time anyway, so he’s not getting put up, as he’s sentimental as much as anything. I really like his stablemate “Wikky”. She runs at Hamilton, but I’ll wait until she’s a bigger price.
At this moment in time I’ve no bet in The Stewards Cup, which is unusual for me. Chil Chil, and Gulliver the main “fancies”, but Justanotherbottle for all I don’t fancy him off this mark, also falls into the sentimental category. I’d already bet Bielsa Antepost, so I’m reluctant to bet any more. I’ll see how the earlier bets go, but even if I do change my mind, it’ll be my smallest bet ever on the race.
Keep Sharp quite appealed on the 1540 at Galway, but my only bet today at the track is Whiskey Sour in the 1430. Top weight, but claimer takes seven off, and the type to bounce back from the average run earlier in the week.
At Doncaster, I’ve went with Mick McHugh, who really caught my eye last time, getting no luck in running, and definitely was worth changing at decent odds.
Whiskey Sour 18’s EW 7pls
Mick McHugh 16’sAugust 1, 2022 at 13:55 #1609727No joy Saturday with the two put up, but much smaller bets, so no concerns like I had with those Friday selections.
As for old Euchen Glen, what a boy, and he’s definitely got a fighting EW chance in The Ebor. I missed Wickywickywheels again too, but she’ll come again.
Swithered about putting up Mr Carpenter today, as there’s no guarantee he’s the same horse as he was when he did me proud two years back. Ran well for a good way on his comeback at Hamilton, and he should be better for that. There’s the obvious concern that he’s had another long enough break after that, but he’s well weighted and if he is good to go, I think he wins this. I don’t know the full programme at The Ebor meeting, so don’t know if he can get in a race there off this low enough mark, but I’d love to see him back at York at some point this year, and I hope that’s the plan.
He could easily bomb out again, but I just had to bet him.
1555 Ripon – Mr Carpenter 16’s
Sadly a shadow of his former self, and he’s not got over his setback
August 17, 2022 at 15:07 #1611353Over a fortnight since I had a bet, and not really missed it too much.
I’ve got a brutal record at The Ebor Meeting, but I love it, always a great four days. Given that record, bets will be limited.
Sir Busker is a silly bet, but I’ve no issue with a loser at 125’s, while my only other bet is an EW go on Peggy Sioux.
Juddmonte – Sir Busker 125’s EW
Fillies Handicap – Peggy Sioux EW 6plsAugust 18, 2022 at 13:35 #1611600Really happy with that pair yesterday. Even without the stumble, Sir Busker wouldn’t have got second, but happy with that for one at 125’s.
Peggy Sioux ran a solid race, and happy to get the EW at 33’s
Just the one race today, and to be honest, could’ve bet half the field in The Clipper Logistics
Escobar 22’s EW 7pls
Shelir 66’sAugust 18, 2022 at 23:46 #1611748Cracking run from Escobar today, and so close. He was a decent sized bet, so got to be pleased with that. It hurt missing him when he won earlier in the season, so that made up for that big time.
Sticking to my guns tomorrow, and keeping bets to a bare minimum.
Lord Protector and Operating both Notebook horses, and both got entries for The Cambridgeshire. Already bet Operating for Newmarket, so no need to bet him tomorrow, while I’d like a better draw for Lord Protector, and there the added danger of Charging Thunder, who looks way too big at 12’s. Hopefully he’ll still be on my radar for Newmarket after this though.
Only one bet then, and it’s a top up in The Nunthorpe, on my Antepost selection Ainsdale. Almost certainly be outclassed, but I’ll hopefully get a run for my money, in a similar vein to Sir Busker. Was happy with the 150’s I got Antepost, but I can get that to four places tonight, so just had to add a bit more.
With Ainsdale out, split my top up stake on a couple for interest this afternoon.
Skybet Handicap – Charging Thunder 12’s
Nunthorpe – Dragon Symbol 20’sAugust 20, 2022 at 12:32 #1612032Bang average yesterday, but thankful for just using my top up stake on Ainsdale for the pair of them.
Happier with managing to cash out Operating for The Cambridgeshire. The news that he was going to the sales next week was a concern, and though I’d still bet him if he went, I’m happy to sit on that race now. Not much encouragement from Lord Protector either.
All about my old pal Euchen Glen today, and if he can get in the first five I’ll be delighted. If he wins, I’ll be over the moon. Topped up on him to eight places.
Surprised at the price for Gulliver, and had to give him a chance. Obvious ground concerns, but he’s the type to bounce back when least expected, and even if he runs poorly, he’ll still be on my radar for Ayr.
I’d love to bet Meditate at The Curragh, like this horse, but far too short, while having a good look at Dr Zempf in The City of York Stakes, and at Killarney, January Jets, but for now, just this pair.
Ebor – Euchen Glen 40’s EW 5pls
Constantine – Gulliver 20’s EW 6pls/25’sAugust 27, 2022 at 01:10 #1612591Hard one to take with Euchen Glen, as he would have won with a clearer passage, but part and parcel I suppose. Big bet on the day though, so happy enough with the EW returns.
These EW’s are doing the business recently, so with bets to a minimum lately, adding a few extra today. No concerns with the number, and Hale Bopp the only one I swithered with
As per “Big Races”, I’m with Ainsdale, Good Heavens, and Hale Bopp.
Elsewhere, I can’t leave Sir Dancealot alone at the odds, back at Goodwood, top weight or not, while at Cartmel I reckon this is a great opportunity for Canelo (Non Runner)
1425 Goodwood – Sir Dancealot EW 5pls
Beverley Bullet – Ainsdale 12’s
Irish Cambridgeshire – Good Heavens 8’sAugust 27, 2022 at 06:44 #1612594That was bad luck with Euchen Glen, but you have followed it to great effect. Good to see your “Saturday selections”. Good luck!
September 3, 2022 at 12:21 #1613173Thanks mate, yeah, very unlucky, but hopefully some compensation today from him.
Not too bad last week, with Good Heavens running a cracker, getting money back safely and a small profit on top. Hale Bopp drifted alarmingly before the off, and I eventually swerved him.
Sir Dancealot less impressive, while th ride on Ainsdale was hugely frustrating, having got the rail early doors.
Last week was supposed to be my busy day after very few bets so far this season, but decided to go for it again today.
I’m on Euchen Glen Antepost, but with him touching 4’s, I’ll no bother topping up.
Gear Up bumped into a good one last time I bet him, and happy to try again at current odds.
Ropey Guest having a good season, and he really appeals EW at Ascot.
In Ireland, Never Back Down is highly risky, but signs of encouragement last time, while I think this is a great opportunity for Father Jed.
1405 Kempton – Gear Up 8’s
1455 Haydock – Euchen Glen 8’s
1510 Ascot – Ropey Guest 16’s EW 6pls
1615 Navan – Never Back Down 10’s
1705 Wexford – Father Jed 14’s
September 5, 2022 at 01:18 #1613426With all the non runners, made the sensible decision to lay off on Euchen Glen before the off, so that along with Ropey Guest doing the business, made it a more respectable day.
Unfortunately the biggest bet was Father Jed, and it was enough to make it a loser of a day.
Very interesting to see him back out so soon, and from this yard, enough to see me try again.
Cracking card at Galway, and I’ve chanced Humps and Bumps as well, and this could be the day. The Shunter really jumps out too, but I’m torn in that race with Duffle Coat also appealing.
It’s very rare for me to put up one on the AW at Newcastle, but Melburnian is a very interesting at a big price in the opener, and I like this yard.
1730 Newcastle – Melburnian 33’s EW 4pls
1745 Galway – Humps and Bumps 18’s EW 6pls
1915 Galway – Father Jed EW 5pls
September 7, 2022 at 13:36 #1613662Melburnian was a perceptive selection. I was looking at it, but did not see your post that day. It ended at 50-1. Excellent ew bet.
