“Vino Victrix’s odds are tumbling. Betfred have gone from 33s to 20/1. The
33s are disappearing like snow of a dyke.”

Rumour has it that, at this precise moment, Fred Done is cowering behind a particularly tasteless leopard print sofa, chez BetFred, wailing: “Restrict the Scottish giant’s account! He’s had so much double carpet we’ll have to sell the bloody carpets if Vino Victrix wins!”

If Vino Victrix wins Ian I can expect restrictions from Fred for having
a good bet on at the early price, if not given the old heave-ho.

Wouldn’t be surprised – he closed me down before I even backed a winner with him.

My history with him – opened account, first bet on a three-way who passes the post first special market on a big-field race, I back one of the trio at 5/2, it’s soon shortened up to 10/11, but gets beat a neck by one of the other two.

No more bets for months then, the day after the Cheltenham Festival ends and, despite inundating my inbox with marketing, I haven’t had a bet (for the simple reason he was never top price about anything I fancied), I get an email stating account CLOSED, not even restricted.

I was left with no access to my account so had to phone up to arrange the withdrawal of my balance.

    The punchline?

After I finally got a customer service rep to transfer my balance to my bank account, he asked: “Is there anything else I can help you with today?”

“You’ve closed me down and just belatedly sent me my funds – what on Earth could there be?” I asked by way of reply.

Tbf, the polite young chap didn’t dispute that and we went our separate ways.

Given i was strong on Run For Oscar on the Saturday of Ascot i had also given Vino Victrix consideration. Didn’t bet yet but i’ll probably follow suit on him….

Nathanael Greene is quite interesting for all he isn’t stable first string- with his couple of runs he should be hard fit for this, compared to when he was beaten by Post Impressionist at the end of 2022. Interesting that he was favoured that day and now is weighted better.

Lastly, Second Slip who loved it around here in 21 could potentially be interesting if retaining his ability fully. Hopefully his most recent run brings him on sufficiently. However, i won’t bet him yet as i’m not sure how much he can shorten given his layoff (if he does it’ll be worth getting onboard)

What a pure b*****d Ian, I’m barred from Corals, Ladbrokes and a German
bookmaker that I can’t even remember their name. Boylesports removed any
offers including best odds. Still got a few left but using the exchange
a fair bit. I think the days of Freddie Williams, who I went out of my
way to get a bet on with him at Perth, are long gone.

Rainbow Dreamer – who I’ve not backed yet but who I’m hoping to get a monster price about because I’m probably the only person in the country mad enough to think a 10yo can have any hope whatsoever in a race like this – and Vino Victrix remain my two against the field at the moment ahead of tomorrow morning’s 48-hour declarations.

    Drawn 6 and 8 Chezza.
My thoughts were on the old twin, but a carpark draw has ended my interest in that.
    Rethink time now.

Thank you – like Mike, I’m not too worried about the draw.

Vino Victrix as short as 10/1 on the Betfair Sportsbook (6 places each way must be a factor). Ladbrokes is out on its own offering 20/1, which I decided it was my duty to take.

Let’s hope Big G has inspired a real TRF gamble.

BigG has unearthed one here and I’m very happy with my win only bet Vino Victrix at 33/1.

I plan to add Rainbow Dreamer and am hoping for similar odds.

Rajinskey for me, likes to go forward and has a low draw, 6 places 365 16’s e/w.
Forth last year, nice run in the Chester cup, admittedly carrying more weight in this than 2022.
As I like a nice twin, I cant let Matchless go at 33’s despite the carpark draw. Noticed that a recent run has just raised the handicap mark enough to get into the race.
Anyway, Ill be on Chezza’s confessional Sunday..

    Good luck all.. :good:

Was torn between Mountain Road, Second Slip, and Sir Chauvelin, and things helped a little by Second Slip being taken out.

Decided to go reluctantly with Sir Chauvelin. I bet him in it last year, and he was desperate, but despite his very advancing years, he’s an unpredictable sort, and I think he’s the type who can surprise. Whether it’s in something like this remains to be seen.

Trainers landed this a couple of years back with a loud one, so hoping for a repeat. He comes here a few pounds lower than last year, and William Pyle, who’s been in good form lately, and looks good value for the claim, takes another seven off.

Took the 66’s, and will add EW seven places as well over next 24 hours.

    Sir Chauvelin EW 7pls, 66’s

Added Mountain Road 33’s EW 7pls

Second Slip NR, makes it easier for me.

Hoping the forum fancy can win….but i’m definitely favouring Nathanael Greene and he’s being supported a tad.
The more i look at him the more i think he has scope to shorten even more. It looks to me a case of jockey bookings dictating the prices of the Haggas pair + not much else. The Haydock form with Giavellotto looks brilliant now and he’s only 6pd higher.
