It’s easy to get carried away when you’re there, but Elite Status absolutely hammered a host of previous winners in the National Stakes at Sandown Park this evening and Sandown’s stiff five is similar to Ascot’s in my view.
American Rascal won a long way at Keeneland, the yard know what it takes to win at the Royal meeting, but I just think Elite Status has the more relevant credentials.
5/2 isn’t terribly exciting, but I think Elite Status is a cracking early 2yo and will take some beating next month.

May 25, 2023 at 23:11 #1649079Agree Ian
Something will need to be special to beat him
Anerican Rascal should give him a target to aim at
Just a shame he’s 5/2 would’ve happily had a few quid on at 7/2-4/1
May 26, 2023 at 16:36 #1649121Certainly more of a race we have on our hands now..
I’m already on American Rascal but would be tempted if offered a swap from the bankerBlackbeard to conquer the World
May 29, 2023 at 15:14 #1649545Just had the cHance to catch up on this market, that was really well done from elite status
Mon na slieve would tempt me for a small bet at 25s currently
May 29, 2023 at 22:11 #1649568Would be much happier if Elite Status didn’t exist (sorry, horse) but alas this is the world we live in. I’m now that much less confident in my American Rascal bet.
Have any recent National winners ever gone on to do much? I remember going to many of the recent renewals (and unknowingly being in close proximity to the great Chezza) and would often try and look up said National winners throughout the season to see how they’d gotten on, only to usually be somewhat disappointed in their tame/lack-of-group-winning seasons.
May 29, 2023 at 22:23 #1649570Keep yer chin up Ben. The trainer trained the dad who won at Sandown and didn’t win at Ascot. It ain’t over ’til its over :o)
May 29, 2023 at 22:36 #1649571Cheers for that bit of info Mike, having just looked up the sire I think Havana Grey’s National win was one of, if not the first Nationals I went to!
May 29, 2023 at 22:47 #1649572Previous National Stakes winners didn’t hose up by the length of Esher High Street.
American Rascal is a hot dog, Elite Status is a Filet Mignons in red wine sauce after a Shrimp Mousse starter.
Pas de contest.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"June 21, 2023 at 23:36 #1652723So, as stated, I’ve been a fan of Elite Status since seeing him at Sandown Park and I’ve backed him at 9/4 for this ante-post.
He’s 2.48 at the Exchange as I write, so am I feeling smug and confident?
Actually, no.
Stable mate World Of Darcy, five lengths runner up there, didn’t exactly frank the form in the Windsor Castle today.
And that’s an understatement – he trailed in ten lengths 13th of 23.
And Hackman, beaten six lengths into third at the Esher venue, fared even worse – he was beaten over 17 lengths into 21st of the 23.
At the short odds, that has to be a concern.
Not sure what else might win it, but Noche Magic and His Majesty showed good pace behind subsequent Coventry fourth Givemethebeatboys in the 6f Marble Stakes at The Curragh, while American Rascal probably didn’t beat much at Keeneland, but is out of Queen Mary and King’s Stand winner Lady Aurelia so the same stiff five should suit.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"June 22, 2023 at 04:56 #1652728Still on mon na slieve, topped up at 40s, for the same reason ians mentioned ill be laying the fav, american rascal @8s is definitely interesting, theyll be my two against the fav, but the race really is about laying the fav now after how the form looks now,
June 22, 2023 at 08:41 #1652738I backed American Rascal at 5/2 after his debut. It is a bit annoying to see him at 7 on the exchange but I had to take it. I still believe he is good.
June 22, 2023 at 11:21 #1652764American Rascal ew 4 places
June 22, 2023 at 14:34 #1652806Well done if you got the forecast.
