Nominate on this thread those you’d like to be included in the vote for 2013 TRF Hero of the Year award
December 6, 2013 at 18:07 #460954Lady Cecil
– Kept the winners flowing at Warren Place including Riposte’s emotional victory at Royal Ascot whilst at the same time having to come to terms with the sad passing of her Husband.
December 6, 2013 at 18:24 #460960Was going to nominate Limerick Racecourse for ‘Racecourse of the Year’ but thought this was a more fitting category.
Limerick Racecourse
and all who were involved in the charity race day that raised over €550,000 for the Injured Jockeys’ Fund.

and the rest of the ground staff at Cheltenham. Many will forget just how close we came to not having a festival altogether when conditions hit -12ºC overnight. To get it on in relatively decent conditions seems nothing short of miraculous. Others probably more deserving but a name in the hat all the same.
December 7, 2013 at 17:33 #461194JT McNamara – he is symbolic of both the dangers the jockeys face every day (numerous times a day) and the courage they invariably show in the face of adversity.

Corm – in addition as an "Amateur" he was doing it for "fun". May I also mention Jonjo Bright – less well known but for the same reasoning (Please feel free for a joint nomination if you see fit).
December 10, 2013 at 19:48 #461419Collective nomination of all ‘chalk jockeys’ labouring day after day on the ones at the back, trailing past the post when the crowds have returned to the bars, driving many miles and consuming few calories with just the hope that some day, one good horse will come along and make their whole working life worthwhile.
December 11, 2013 at 13:46 #461475Not a person but an Organisation…
The Injured Jockeys Fund
, for looking after all the injured jockeys and their families and giving them hope when the source of their livelihood lies broken.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 12, 2013 at 11:12 #461544Well, if no-one else will nominate them, then I will: Arena Racing for pumping £2m in additional prize-money into the winter AW, in the face of inexplicable opposition from some within racing, for announcing innovative ideas for Newcastle racecourse and for standing up to the odious Horsemen’s Group.
Someone may want to nominate them for Villian of The Year at the same time.

for leaving this World a Sadder place without him but his legacy lives on thankfully.Courageous to the last and dignified with it Henry undoubtedly made a massive impression on me as both a Trainer and a person.A Hero of mine anyway.
