Beg your pardon I was standing on my head reading the form

Still think my point about Don’t Push It is valid though……..5lbs is a lot to some horses but Don’t Push It isn’t about weight he’s about how he feels on the day. People tend to foget on his day he was good enough to run make Big Bucks pull out all the stops albeit getting weight and run Denman to 3/4 of a length.
He’s got the class, the right trainer and jockey and I can’t see past him hurdles or no hurdles. Horse jumps for fun!

Sate of Play
is amazing value. He’ll be no more than 16’s again on the day.
Another horse i’ve been keeping my eye on for this race is
Auroras Encore
. Been dipping in terms of form, but has a few promising performances under his belt including a win over a decent field that included That’s Rhythm and Midnight Chase.
January 11, 2011 at 19:24 #335490Not sure if he’ll stay that far, but he’ll run his heart out…Chief Dan George. I’ve loved this horse for years, and he has course form at Aintree, albeit in a hurdle race. I love Niche Market as well, so I’m hoping for a good run from both of them. As for the rest, with the possible participation of Majestic Concorde, this is shaping up to be a fascinating contest. I’ve already backed my old favourites, State of Play and Maljimar, and I fear I may have to have a little ew on Character Building before he runs on Saturday; couldn’t face the thought of him winning it the one year that I hadn’t backed him!
January 11, 2011 at 20:41 #335498Funny thing JJM, but they are exactly my betting slips from last year barring a slightly more generous price on BFT. Can’t see him improving on last years position this year though.

Don’t waste your money. Horses who pull up in the National
never
go on to win (this is speaking strictly Nationals after the second world war as i can’t remember races before then). Niche Market is a horse i’ve always liked… but he is not National bound.
January 11, 2011 at 22:21 #335507He was actually injured in the race last year, but is fine now. Still got the Presenting obstacle to overcome, though. Need to find out what’s happening with Backstage at the moment.
January 12, 2011 at 16:48 #335569He was injured? I had no idea. What happened to him?

Peter H you couldn’t be more wrong. The Niche entire season is centred around the Grand National. As for what happened he was struck into and returned with a hole in his leg, like he’d been shot. However he’s fine now and judging by his Hennessy run his confidence is still intact. However the first two in the Welsh national, Synchronised amongst the pair might be aimed at next years national. They not going for this years or at least that what it says in the racing post Weekender result section.
January 12, 2011 at 22:45 #335639A dual winner, we had 2 in the 20 century although technically Red Rum was a triple winner. The one before RR was Reynoldstown in the mid 1930’s so we are due one. However if Don’t Push It goes for it and it looks very likely expect the world and his Mrs to be on after A.P. won sports personality of the year, the Welsh national and last years grand national.

AP isn’t keen on Synchronised running in the National and has already said if the do send him they can go without him as he isn’t getting off Don’t Push It for anyone.
Being owned by JP it’s very unlikely they’ll go against AP’s advise but I would think they will enter incase the heavens open up and the ground ends up desperate.
The WGN wasn’t a great race but on bad ground he ticks all the right boxes.
January 13, 2011 at 12:23 #335688Gerald also told me that the first horses he discounts for the national are Accordion offsprings.
January 13, 2011 at 15:23 #335723What do you think to Synchronised having a Gold Cup entry, Fist? Is he likely to run or do they think we might have a wet couple of months in the run up to the race?
January 13, 2011 at 16:19 #335731Another horse i’ve liked for the National is
According To Pete
(guess why, haha). Seriously though he’s always had a bit of class in him and he clearly will stay (a heart breaking second in the 3, 6 at Catterick today and wasn’t tiring). His form isn’t at it’s best in recent runs, but today was really encouraging. I reckon with one or two more marathon runs he’ll be right and ready to run a big race if entered.
January 16, 2011 at 00:04 #336154Thought Comply Or Die ran a superb race today, tired in the closing stages but the ground would have something to have to do with that. Or at least that’s my opinion.
Not saying Comply will win a second national but connections have to be pleased with today’s run and I personally think he’s being aimed at the national.

I was willing him on once my picks dropped out. Thought he ran great bar one bad mistake towards the end. The blinkers obviously make him shine. I’d put him in the Eider then take him to Aintree.
January 17, 2011 at 19:09 #336435Two i fancy here are Ballabriggs and Merigo. Ballabriggs is getting the canny McCain preparation and Merigo has the right profile. Both are best on decent ground and should be around 140 , so less than 11st to lump round. Worth a small AP at about 25’s. I can see According To Pete ending up in the Scottish National this season where he should have a shout.
