Just to stir the pot, rather surprised that with the state of the ground today we haven’t had a flood of Nicky Henderson non runners! Be curious to see if they all stand their ground at Newbury.

February 11, 2023 at 14:16 #1635028Surprised they didn’t abandon Newbury altogether considering the good to firm places mentioned in the official going description….surely a serious welfare issue based on previous comments when Ascot’s Coral Hurdle meeting was good, good to soft in places and deemed a welfare issue.
I guess the trainers that are running horses in the 16 runner Betfair today have £87k reasons why they are willing to risk it…including incidentally the two trainers (with 3 runners between them) that were the most vocal about the state of Ascot’s ground.

Who’d had thunk it!
February 11, 2023 at 14:22 #1635031Spot on LD73. Remember, Henderson said he would not run anything in his yard on the Ascot ground.
