In the Weekender this week NM says that Soldier of Fortune "had a hard race" in the Prix Niel "rolling around in the closing stages" He expects the tenderly ridden Zambezi Sun to win the Arc.
I’ve watched this race a dozen times and all I can see is SOF getting a couple of cracks and holding the second and third pretty easily, possibly edging slightly off the rail in the final strides. Arguably the second’s performance is better than Zambezi, as Sagara comes from further back and stays on better close home. Am I missing something, because I don’t expect Zambezi to reverse the form and see Sagara as a bigger danger to SOF?October 4, 2007 at 19:58 #117979He’s clearly got a disease known in Latin as Tomus Segalitis, whereby one’s opinions are based on little more than nothing and can only be justified by non-sensical gibberish.
I don’t think Zambezi Sun was given the best ride last time out, but there’s no chance of him winning the Arc for me. I’d certainly favour Soldier of Fortune over him any day of the week.
October 4, 2007 at 20:17 #117981"19 of the last 24 Arc winners had landed a Group 1 race over a trip between 1m2f and 1m4f that season and scored in at least a third of their starts…..There’s a 79% chance the winner will be one of Dylan Thomas, Authorized, Soldier of Fortune, Zambezi Sun and Saddex."
ROFLMAO.

According to betfair, there’s an approx 90% chance of one of them winning.
So, is Mordin suggesting we lay these 5 at 1-9 and enjoy the 11% advantage?

October 5, 2007 at 01:13 #118018I haven’t visited Mordin’s ‘Cave of Wonders’ for quite a while and was particularly interested to read his views on US Ranger. Unsurprisingly he’s sure to be winning everything going over six furlongs next season according to Nick, but he does state that the horse was a ‘shrewd acquistion for Ballydoyle’.
Can he really be called a shrewd acquisition when he is owned by one of those bankrolling Ballydoyle and had already destroyed all challengers in France?
I wonder what planet this guy is on sometimes, but I guess threads like this are why he’s still writing such pish.
