Cork. Its like talking toa field of grass
They dont understand
We are in danger of a state run papersplease society
Labour are a total fraud
We need an effective opposition for democracy to work
We mustfight itwith robust vigour
December 15, 2021 at 14:40 #1572650They do not want to face up to the blindingly obvious fact that vaccine passports DO NOT WORK. It is a pig headed refusal to face up to reality.
How is a piece of paper or a display on a smartphone going to save someone’s life?! Especially when the vaccines do not provide complete protection against catching or transmitting the virus.
It is madness on stilts. Especially when there is no evidence to show the omicron strain is particularly deadly. If anything, it could be good news if it takes over from delta as the dominant strain and is less harmful.
Just heard Carl Heneghan, Professor of Evidence Based Medicine at Oxford University, on Talk Radio. He said vaccine passports are authoritarian and ineffective. I would place more trust in his opinion than in some dim, lobby fodder MP who is thinking of their career.
This article is on the money as well:
December 15, 2021 at 15:10 #1572659Blimey, we have Albert Camus and C S Lewis giving their opinions from the grave now.
Were they talking about the after effects of a pandemic when they talked about “tyrants”?We are not talking of a permanent decree of some fascist or communist state here or even a religion.
Just temporary measures to ensure our NHS / health service is not overwhelmed this Winter by Omicron.Value Is EverythingDecember 15, 2021 at 15:29 #1572668You may have swallowed the propaganda wholesale, but quoting it back at us is too much.
“temporary measures’ ‘our NHS’ ‘not overwhelmed’ – all straight out of the government playbook.
The first lockdown was ‘three weeks to flatten the curve’ – how temporary did that prove to be.
Our NHS, would that be the one killing cancer patients?
We’re overwhelmed – that’s been the cry every winter for as long as I can remember, just around the time that the budgets for the following financial year are being decided.
December 15, 2021 at 15:33 #1572671👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank goodness someone else sees it
December 15, 2021 at 16:40 #1572685Forgive me, as you know I am not a good wordsmith.
The Lockdown was temporary. It was lifted. Nobody gave a definite date for lifting – everyone including the government was / is learning about this once in a lifetime pandemic and three weeks was just a guess, a guess given what was known to that point – which admittedly wasn’t much.
Are the words “temporary measures” only allowed in government circles? Didn’t even know that was what they described them as. Forgive me but “temporary measures” are imo the best way to describe temporary measures.
Suppose my definition of “overwhelmed” is different to yours AP. It is really unfortunate, yes sadly sometimes tragic that any treatment has to be cancelled and am sure because of that some may die. Of course I sympathise with anyone in that situation and their families. To a lesser degree – my own eye treatment may well be cancelled so it is possible I’ll be blind in one eye due to this pandemic… Or worse as am a long way overdue a diabetic review. Yes, I agree the current situation can be construed as “overwhelmed”. May be I should’ve used another word. Is there another word worse than overwhelmed? What I mean is when ALL hospitals are absolutely full. No room for any more covid patients or cancer or anyone else. THAT would mean FAR MORE cancer patients dying than currently.
Value Is EverythingDecember 15, 2021 at 17:00 #1572688Ever encountered a boss who puts on a mournful face when making redundancies but who’s eyes are smirking away on the power trip?
Not all but a lot of politicians are in this bracket. Oddly enough not Johnson, even though I have zero time for him, but definitely sturgeon, that horrible kiwi horse face jacinda and probably misery guts drake**** or whatever his name is ?
Politics attracts rather a lot of people who are get a little bit of a buzz from authortinarism
This doesn’t drive every single aspect of this and I’m no extremist either way on this COVID issue but voters should be very aware of this and it’s especially prevalent on the “liberal” (hah!) left
December 15, 2021 at 18:32 #1572705Gt last post was at best rambling and delusioned
At worst the biggest pile of rubbish ever penned on a racing forum
The question remains will you head off to kempton on boxing day with your phone loaded with a electronic pass or neg test
Or just turn up watch the fun of 15000 people barge their way into the turnstiles
My bet is the checks will be very minimalist😍😍😍
Enjoy the day folks 👍👍👍
December 15, 2021 at 18:41 #1572707Covid-19 really likes this discussion
December 15, 2021 at 18:41 #1572708Going on boxing day Clive ..?? Im thinking you are an annual member so you will
Vax passports ??
December 15, 2021 at 19:43 #1572714Yes I’m going and I’m a member ricky. I have the passport and not too bothered about that requirement in truth
Newbury did the checks today but I’m sure that even though it’s am quietish fixture, crowd was a fair bit down today
Suspect ascot will be the same when I go Friday
December 15, 2021 at 22:12 #1572748Do they actually bother checking them properly here? I was away a couple of weeks ago and for the places that required a vaccine passport for entry, you could have flashed pretty much anything with a QR code at them and you’d be waved through. Only one actually bothered to ask for proof that I was the person named on it. I very much doubt that most of the people charged with checking these things get paid enough to care.
Even the border control bloke took my word for it, although I understand that airlines have to be pretty stringent at checking that kind of thing or there can be penalties.
December 16, 2021 at 07:00 #1572777There is nothing more permanent than a government temporary measure.
Welcome to Week 87 of 3 Weeks To Flatten The Curve…
But it will be ending soon. Honest. Just one more week. Or maybe two, or three.
Look, we would have ended these temporary measures – but now we have discovered a new viral strain which is even more transmissable than omicron and there is a danger the NHS will be overwhelmed again, so we have no choice but to impose more restrictions. But they will be temporary. Trust us…
December 16, 2021 at 09:24 #1572785This is starting to resemble the David Icke forum. Bunch of punters who still believe Capricorn One was a documentary.

December 16, 2021 at 09:38 #1572786One shelf of my one of my bookcases is taken up by books about the Apollo programme, the single greatest achievement in the human history.
So nice try – but wrong.
December 16, 2021 at 10:47 #1572792I’ve had my Covid pass tucked away in my notebook holder for a while, but Scottish courses have pegged their maximum crowds to 3,999 so it’s not been an issue.
I’m off to Musselburgh on Monday and social distancing is standard practice at Musselburgh on a Monday, particularly the one before Christmas. Finding private space will not be a problem! If you see a lonely chap out watching near the last hurdle/fence then it will probably be me.
I’m reasonably happy with the way the Scottish Government has dealt with the pandemic BUT somewhere along the line we have to get out of periodic shutdowns otherwise businesses will die the death of a 1,000 cuts.
December 16, 2021 at 10:59 #1572794Cheers Clive must be the best value membership around
I respect your opinion. No bother
