can anyone help me here…I’m looking for races to enter a horse of mine in. On the HRI site (horseracing Ireland) there’s a NH Provisional Summary on the homepage. can anyone give me the link to the one for English racing…I’ve looked on the British Horseracing site, but can only find one for listed and pattern races…thanks.
October 12, 2009 at 17:30 #253017The full program of races is only available on the BHA Racing Admin website and is only free for those with a trainer’s licence.
Owners can get a logon id for most of the site, but have to pay to access the program book.
If you give me an idea of the type of race you’re looking for and which tracks (or general area), I’d be happy to have a look for you.
At present, only races up to Dec 31st are listed.

October 12, 2009 at 17:38 #253018oh thanks…not as advanced as the Irish site… It would just interest me for Hurdle races 4 year olds only 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 miles. He is a winner in Ireland and was 3rd on his debut this season 4 weeks ago in a Grade C Handicap Hurdle behind Tilabay, so we’d have to be looking at a bit better prize money, within the next 10 days or so.
thanks.
October 12, 2009 at 18:01 #253020There’s nothing this month restricted to 4-y-olds at those distances – the only 4-y-o race is over 2M at Cheltenham, and entries for that closed at midday today!
I presume he’s not qualified for novice races – if his first win came after Mar 1st, then he can run in novice races here until Oct 31st. That would allow him to run in the £30k Persian War Novice Hurdle at Chepstow on Oct 24th over 2m 4f.
There’s a valuable handicap over the same trip on that card as well, The Tote Silver Trophy worth £32,000.

October 12, 2009 at 18:12 #253022Nah Beverley, you’ve got it all wrong.
I think it should go something like this.
"I’ve got a nag, and I want to use it for a bit of a beano, getting me and my mates into a high-class race meeting for free, with free food, and being able to watch the racing from the best stand. I don’t mind too much if my nag is outclassed a bit, it will all add to "improve" his h’cap rating."
I think that Novice Hdles that are restricted to 4yos only at this time of the year are quite rare on the ground, so Der Spieler will have to take on the big boys.
What I’ve done is look at the race results for a week Saturday, a year ago.
NAAS 2m4f Brown Lad H’cap Hdle 2m4f 19K to the winner.
AINTREE 2m1f Class 2 (0-140) H’cap Hdle. 12k to the winner. (I think things have been rejigged this year so that the Old Roan Chase is on the Saturday, so this may mean that this hdle race has moved as well.)
CHEPSTOW 2m4f Silver Trophy Listed H’cap Hdle 19K to the winner. Please note that although this was a Listed race (last year) the top weight was only rated 139!!!
Although Der Spieler is rated 113 in Ireland, expect him to be rated 120-125 in Britain.
October 12, 2009 at 18:19 #253024thanks ap…races for him are few and far between , looks like in England as well as Ireland… yes Gerald in a way you’re right… we will have to take on older horses, but certainly not the big guns.
He is still entitled to run in novices, just none over the right distance for him, except 4 year old +.
Gerald, have you ever been to the races in Ireland? there’s no such thing as free food and drink…
October 12, 2009 at 18:20 #253025Is the 2m2f-2m4f range of trip an absolute must? Or would a dead 2m in stamina-sapping going be of any use?
You’d have to hit it lucky with the prevailing conditions if so, but there is that 4yo contest at the Old Roan meeting that kicks off Aintree’s season at the end of October. After that, maybe what was the Nerak Hurdle (a limited handicap) at Haydock a few weeks later?
The former might be tilting just a little too high on the face of it, but it can cut up really badly – only five took part on going officially soft and unofficially a bit worse than that last season (of whom two were complete no-hopers). I’m sure there are worse ways to make a living than earning nearly five grand for a badly outpaced third place, as Debbie Hamer did that day with Pelennor…

October 12, 2009 at 18:25 #253027he’s a bit onepaced…and begging for a trip, got to be 2 miles 2+ otherwise he’ll always get done…we’ll have to take on the older horses…anything from good to heavy is ok…firm is no go, although he handles it, I’m be too frightened of him getting jarred up.
October 12, 2009 at 18:26 #253028My own view is that the horse looks like it could hold its own in H’cap Hdles.
Run in Novice H’cap Hdles if you can find them, and they are valuable enough (10K+ to the winner).
Avoid Novice Hdles, as you could run well, not win, and your rating go up with not much reward for it.
(Don’t mind running in the odd 2m race, as the h’capper might relent and drop you a few pounds.
)October 12, 2009 at 18:27 #253029and, just to say it’s a bit bad that you have to be registered to look at all the races on the BHA site…
October 12, 2009 at 18:28 #253030
that’s why he didn’t run yesterday Gerald…
October 12, 2009 at 18:53 #253034Are you starting to give him dirty looks yet, Beverley, thinking what are you doing, eating me out of house and home, when you could be out there earning your keep?
October 12, 2009 at 19:15 #253035no…he’ll get all the time he needs… no rush there…
October 12, 2009 at 19:17 #253037Send him to France Beverley – 35k races and bottomless ground
October 12, 2009 at 19:53 #253042no, ever since Dawn Run lost her life there, I’ve something against France jump racing…
October 13, 2009 at 19:12 #253186we’ve entered him at Naas and Cork on Sunday…2m 3f
