I hope so Mike and Reading are an attacking team who will go to Bolton looking for a win. I’m surprised that Bolton are as low as 2.4 on BF to win that match.
This talk about Jol being sacked at Spurs is starting to concern me though. I didn’t take it seriously to start with but the media seem to think that the directors have no confidence in Jol anymore and have already looked elsewhere which is stupid imo – Jol has slowly been building the team up and has got some excellent players. If Spurs had lost faith in him then they should have sacked him at the end of last season and not think about it now just because they have lost 2 games – they are still above Man utd in the table though
Give Jol a chance.Just hope that Lee goes first as Bolton had no spirit or much of a clue last saturday against Pompey.
August 22, 2007 at 16:07 #112176God i’ve just cringed at Sammy Lee’s interview on Sky Sports News. If I were a Bolton fan I would be shouting from the roof tops to get this man out.
In a 2 minute interview, I think he said ‘Bolton Wanderers Footbal Club’ about 10 times
– He seriously is Mr Cliche manThe interview went on the lines of,
"I only want playes who want to play for Bolton Wanderers Football Club"
"I only want staff who want to be at Bolton Wanderers Football Club"He also said,
"If a players doesn’t want to play for Bolton Wanderers Football Club then all due respect to the press and the media, I will discuss that in the confinds of my office. I will not talk about players to the media"
The interviewer then asked him about Nicholas Anelka possibly leaving….
Sammy said,
"Yes I expect Nicholas to be at Bolton Wanderers Football Club when the transfer window finishes…………."
What happened to not talking about players?

But you’re right SC, this speculation about Martin Jol is very worrying – if it weren’t for him I think we would be sitting on a certainty here.

September 15, 2007 at 17:40 #115166Another loss for Bolton today away to Birmingham which probably means that I have lost my bet on Bruce but there will now be more pressure on Lee. Bolton’s next prem game is at home to Spurs and it is possible that a defeat in that game for either team may result in the dismissal of their manager. As I have money on Lee to be the first Prem sacking and the Prem team I support is Spurs then there is no need to ask which team I will be shouting for in that match
September 15, 2007 at 20:02 #115175Lee gone, Jol gone, Davies gone – just a matter of who gets chop 1st
September 15, 2007 at 23:21 #115195Lee gone, Jol gone, Davies gone – just a matter of who gets chop 1st
Davies won’t go – Derby had no expectations!
Sammy Lee – well I maintain I just can’t have him at all, but I think Jol has ridden the storm despite the poor Spurs form and I think he has been given a stay of execution.
Lee to go first, looking quite a decent bet now – come on Spurs, stand by your man lol.

September 15, 2007 at 23:32 #115198What price George Burley back to Derby?
September 17, 2007 at 21:26 #115394A surprise win by Derby tonight means that Bolton are now bottom of the Prem’ship and places more pressure on Lee.
Tonight was the first time that I have watched Newcastle on tv this season and I was not impressed. They should have scored early on but after that missed chance there was no service to Owen and not much idea throughout really. Derby deserved to win and outbattled Newcastle which is an unusual thing to say about one of Big Sam’s teams. Maybe they had an off night…….I see that they are sponsored by Northern Rock
…… but I’ll be suprised if they win anything this season.September 17, 2007 at 23:55 #115418Agreed SC.
Apparantly the Bolton fans sang "You don’t know what you’re doing" to him at the weekend when he made a bizarre substitution by all accounts.
But as you well know well SC, when you are normally a top 8 club, and suddenly find yourselves bottom with an unproven manager, and the crowd turns against you – well you are in trouble lol.
On a seperate note SC, if you want a laugh take a look at the link below if it will allow you. Basically it is the link for the betting on the PFA Player of the year.
Now please tell me – why is Tuncay Sunji 5th favourite, ahead of the likes of Drogba, Lampard, Van Persie & Terry etc

http://www.easyodds.com/compareodds/foo … -69-5.html
First of all – when have Boro ever had a player winning PFA player of the year? Why is Tuncay expected to do better than the above mentioned players – at the moment he isn’t even getting his game for Boro lol.
It made me laugh anyway!
Take care,
Mike
September 18, 2007 at 08:30 #115435Yes Mike that is strange about Tuncay Sunji being 5th favourite but this is Paddy Power who are quoting the odds and they apparently have this ability to see into the future and have already paid out on bets for Derby to be relegated. As my bet re Sammy Lee was struck with PP then I wish they would do the same with him
Perhaps they know something about Sunji that the rest of us don’t.
If I was going to have a bet on this event then I would be tempted to go for Fabregas who may be over-rated but could get the acclaim if Arsenal are successful this season.Good luck and let’s hope Bolton do badly in the UEFA Cup and then against Tottenham this week.
September 18, 2007 at 09:20 #115441I know PP think they can see in to the future, but they must be visaging Tuncay with a massive broad smile, dread locks hair, brazilian nationality – ala Ronaldinho –

To be fair to PP, it’s obviously a mistake, as when I viewed the betting on their own site rather than easy odds, he wasn’t even in the list, and it was 250/1 bar lol.
The market itself is an interesting one. Fabregas has started the season so well and you will do worse than back him at the moment – but inevitably, the winner of this award usually goes to a player who has played in a successful team, so if you do back him, then you would be hoping that Arsenal win a high profile trophy at least.
To be honest though SC, I really couldn’t put up an alternative, it’s such a hard thing to call. If Man Utd and Ronaldo repeat what they did last year then he would certainly by a hot favourite – but I just have a sneak suspicion that someone not usually in the ‘spotlight’ could win, like a Paul Scholes, a Jamie Carragher etc.
I wish they had betting on the PFA young player of the year – my selection would be Micah Richards at the moment.

September 18, 2007 at 15:23 #115477Fascinating race to see who gets the chop first. It should be Sammy Lee, but if Spurs flunk the next few games it may come down to which Chairman is the more ruthless.
PFA Player of the year? Wow – get the crystal ball out. We’ve not even started the Champions League proper yet.
Fernando Torres, despite playing like a blurter when he came on at Portsmouth this weekend looks the real deal and he’ be my choice if asked to name a winner this early. He looks outstanding and I can see him shining in Europe. I’d be happy to lay Lampard, Rooney and Terry though.September 20, 2007 at 07:47 #115623Well done to the shrewdies who had a few quid at odds of just over 100 -1 on BF for Mourinho to the first Premiership managerial change of the season. It will be a bit of a sickener if Lee gets the chop this weekend but that’s betting. Win some…………lose some

Yes SC, couldn’t have put it better myself – though I am talking through slightly gritted teeth

September 27, 2007 at 11:23 #116715Who’s next then Jol or Lee after last weeks draw still all to play for? Thoughts?
October 1, 2007 at 21:05 #117471With half an hour to go in the Spurs match against Villa tonight with Spurs trailing 4-1 then I would have said that Jol was on his way out before midnight but after an amazing comeback to draw 4-4, I don’t think that the Spurs board will dare get rid of him in the next few days. By the way nearly a million pounds ( £912226 ) was traded at 1.02 on BF for a Villa win…….just wish I’d been one of the layers.
October 2, 2007 at 12:38 #117589Surely when all the fuss dies down the bare facts will see Jol on his way, they are bottom three and I will be surprised if he lasts the weekend after a trip to Anfield. Are any firms running a book on this as I don’t have gambling access here? Jol must be big odds on now…
October 2, 2007 at 13:52 #117605According to Oddschecker, Jol is best price 11/8 with Corals to be the next manager to leave their post.
He is as low as 8/11 with 3 other firms though and 2.0 with Betfair.
