No Southern raiders at Newcastle today and that is good for the small northern trainers.
April 27, 2009 at 16:05 #223864Have Mick Channon, Gay Kelleway and James Eustace moved?
And would that be ‘small northern trainers’ as in Mark Johnston, who fields five favourites, all owned by members of the Maktoum family. Not sure Braveheart would approve of being included in that grouping!
April 27, 2009 at 16:16 #223866Channon / Gay Kelleway / James Eustace are not in the top rank of Souther trainers and as far as Johnston is concerned he is a northern trainer giving work to those in the north.
April 27, 2009 at 16:18 #223868That’s told you AP!
April 27, 2009 at 16:34 #223871I’ll leave it to Tom then to face up to Braveheart and tell him he’s a small trainer!

So 7 Group 1 winners from Mike Channon’s stable mean nothing then? Or a nose short of winning an Arc? Or 389 winners and £5.4 million prize money in from the start of 2005?
Mmmm, methinks the evidence doth suggest otherwise…….

April 27, 2009 at 16:36 #223874There are few southern raiders would eb more apt. Which is surprising given there is reasonable prize money on offer for a monday.
April 27, 2009 at 19:38 #223914Mick Channon, Gay Kelleway and James Eustace not having a good day.
This is a meeting that is giving the small northern trainers a chance.
Box Office a big disappointment for all his prestigious connections.
April 28, 2009 at 18:12 #224107And all but the prize money of one race went to small stables and owners.
