Hi there,
Does anyone have a rough idea of the track features? I know it’s tapeta but is it a galloping or sharpish course — is stamina at a premium? The old turf track used to be considered galloping with an uphill finish. Karl Burke has a runner in today’s 2:05 ( admittedly carrying an 11 lb penalty ) but his pedigree seems to suggest 10 furlongs might be beyond him.
Any advice appreciated.February 21, 2018 at 10:04 #1343293February 21, 2018 at 10:09 #1343294Cheers wit,
Many thanks for that.February 21, 2018 at 10:55 #1343298I have seen recently that horses that find the 5 furlongs a bit too stiff are better suited to the Tapeta and bends of Wolverhampton.
It’s still a course I’m trying to get to grips with.
I do like one that can be held on to and has the ability to quicken sharpish with just over a furlong to run. The big 7f handicap today has an interesting Keith Dalgleish runner that looks like he fits that mould. (What’s The Story)February 21, 2018 at 13:33 #1343315It’s a fair galloping track with a long straight. Rides much stiffer than Lingfield, Wolves and Chelmsford. Hard to make all the running.
Often attracts big fields in the 1m+ handicaps, which does help to produce truly-run races.
February 21, 2018 at 15:00 #1343323Fortunately I kept off Guvenor’s Choice as I had him down last night to back and he was either beat by the double penalty or stiff track — would be interesting back to a mile in a novice, perhaps with a claimer up.
Thanks again to the above posters for the info.
