Please put your ante-post bets for March (onwards) in here please.
I’ve put in bold writing the gist of any rule changes.
TRFers can put bets up for other months (not just March), they will be carried forward each month.
NEW TRF ANTE-POST BETTING COMPETITION 2014/2015
Competition starts Tuesday 10th June and ends DERBY DAY 2015
The “10 Compulsory races” are 5 Flat Classics that even most die hard Jumps fans are interested in and 5 jumps races being 4 from the Cheltenham Festival plus the Grand National, so ditto for Flat fans. The first “Compulsory race” is this month; and with many “Other races” for TRFers to choose from – there is plenty of time for more people to join in the competition.
So whether you like to bet mainly in Big Handicaps, mainly Grade 1’s, mainly Flat, mainly Jumps or a mixture – you can in this competition.
WINNING PRIZE:
None as yet but donations greatly appreciated.STAKES:
TRFers may choose in each race whether to have:2 points win on ONE horse
or
1 point each way on ONE horse (All each way bets to be scored to ¼ odds)
or
1 point win bets on TWO horses (You may choose to place these two bets at different times)That way everyone is staking the same points per race.
Unless otherwise stated at time of selection – bets will be counted as 1 point win bets. This is to stop anyone putting a selection up as a 1 point bet and then claiming it as a 2 point bet after seeing the price taken shorten considerably!
You may select just one 1 point bet on a race if you wish (counting as -1 if it loses).
Anyone wishing to have two 1 point win bets on the same horse in the same race can do so. eg 1 point win bet @ 20/1 and another 1 point win bet @ 12/1 a little later.
WHEN:
Selections MUST be placed BEFORE final declarations day (ie “Ante-Post”). I realise declarations are usually only known at 11:00 am but for this competition bets MUST be in by 12:00am midnight the day before final declarations come out.COMPULSORY RACES:
Participants MUST make a selection/s in ALL 10 Compulsory races (5 flat and 5 jumps), anyone failing to do so will be counted as losing bet/s. ie -1 point for every Compulsory race without a tip.10 Compulsory races:
St Leger (ran)
Champion Hurdle
Champion Chase
World Hurdle
Cheltenham Gold Cup
Grand National
2000 Guineas
1000 Guineas
Oaks
DerbyEXTRA BETS:
Participants are given ONE EXTRA FREE 2 points win bet and ONE EXTRA FREE 1 point each way bet to be used on any of the 10 Compulsory races; but the EXTRA bets are NOT to be used together on the SAME race. These Extra Bets are optional but are free so might as well be used.OTHER RACES:
In addition, participants MUST make selection/s in AT LEAST 10 “Other races”. Again, anyone not selecting horse/s for at least 10 of these races will be treated as losing bets. eg If only selecting in 7 “Other races” you will lose an 3 points (10 – 8 = 2) from your over all +/- Score (-1 point per race without a tip).NUMBER OF BETS/POINTS ALLOWED:
There is a maximum of 80* points (including Compulsories) per TRFer. So eg. Anyone selecting 2 points for every race would have a maximum of 40 races to tip in (10 Compulsories and 30 Others). It can be more than 40 races if only 1 point is used for some/all races. If any TRFer selects more than 80* points only the first 80 will count towards your total score.Participants have a total of between 20 and 80* points to stake. eg If a TRFer only had 1 point per race on all 10 “Compulsory Races” and 10 “Other Races” he/she’d be staking just 20 points in all. If staking 2 points in all of those it would be 40 points (20 x 2). You can choose in every individual race whether to use 1 or 2 points. (* = + extra free tips)
NON RUNNERS:
Any non-runner is counted as a losing bet and goes towards your total. Any ante-post tip struck in a race postponed to a later date will be carried forward to the new time… Unless the new race distance or venue change (voided). Any horse ballotted out will have stakes returned (to use again). If the non-runner is a 1 point win bet you still have another 1 point win bet to play with anyway.
If the non-runner is a 2 point win bet or 1 point each way bet lost – then you may bet again. However, if choosing to do so the non-runner losing tips as well as the new bets will go towards your total.
If the non-runner is in one of the 10 Compulsory Races then any further bet will be subtracted from the number of bets possible in the Other Races section.
If having another bet when thinking your original bet is a non-runner and then the original bet ends up running – then ONLY the original bets will count. ie Only the first 2 points stated are allowed to run in any race (+ Extra Free bets).
BOOKMAKERS:
Bets must be quoted from one of 13 Bookmakers quoted on ODDSCHECKER on the left of the screen.
Bet 365, Skybet, Totesport, Boylesports, Betfred, Sportingbet, BetVictor, Paddy Power, Stan James, 888sport, Ladbrokes, Corals, William Hills.http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing … acing/flat
No bets on betting exchanges or obscure bookmakers.
Sorry, ringing up for a price and saying “I got this price” will not be allowed, as they can not be checked. Prices MUST be quoted from the oddschecker site.SCORING: Pat is going to do the scoring, but it would help if everyone kept their own scores. We’re going to have a seperate thread every month and then the leaderboard produced for that particular month. It would help us all to keep tabs on the AP races we have bet in and may encourage new players at the beginning of every new month.
EDITING:
Strictly NO EDITING, even if it is to change your total. If you’ve made a mistake in writing just “quote” it and say why you want it changed.REMINDER:
Players need to select for all 10 Compulsory Races AND at least 10 Other races.TIE BREAK:
In the event of a tie at the end of the competition the one with the biggest priced winner wins. If it’s the same – the one with the second biggest price wins. If same – the third… etc. Please put your ante-post bets for March (onwards) in here please.
