This is an old debate now but its nonsense to dismiss Detroit City as "not being up to CH class" on the basis of that particular run
And clearly Katchit isnt out of it yet.
January 21, 2008 at 13:54 #136754I see Harper Valley is to be sold at Cheltenham in the Centaur on Saturday (hope they get the boozed up punters out of the way first)
I’d say selling was a good move- could see him making £250k easily enough and at that or above I’d be selling.January 21, 2008 at 14:18 #136760This is an old debate now but its nonsense to dismiss Detroit City as "not being up to CH class" on the basis of that particular run

My point is Katchit and Detroit City were meant to be exceptional winners of the Champion Hurdle.
Detroit City ran well enough early in the season but was found wanting twice in Grade 1 all age company.
Katchit has failed with win a Grade 1 in all age company also.
So if were going to be talking up a 4 year old that has won a single race (a weak enough one in heavy ground) forgive me for being sceptical in the context of the recent “great Triumph Hurdle winnersâ€

Katchit has run ONE grade one all aged race. It took Brave Inca SIX attempts to win his first all aged grade one
But i notice that the champion hurdler was "found wanting" behind him in a subsequent grade two? No doubt sublimity will be allowed all the excuses for that
DC ran his true form at Aintree or Cheltenham? Not a chance.
