As some of you probably know some of us TRF’ers participate in ownership of a couple of shares in Milnathort Racing Club, based up here in North England/Scotland.
The club have had Outlaw Tom in training for a few years and he’s done incredibly well. To find ourselves in the winner’s enclosure a couple of times was, for a club with a small budget and only one inexpensive horse to pin our hopes on, a dream come true (well, it was for me anyway)!
Sadly Outlaw Tom was off the track for a while with a tendon injury. He’s back in action and, although he’s taking a bit of time to find his way back to form, we’re hopeful that he’ll be competitive again soon in his grade. But the really good news is that club have the just this weekend acquired a second horse to race in our distinctive orange silks. He’s called THE VILLAGE and is an attractive looking five year old by Lahib. He was in training with Stuart Crawford and ran well on his debut when favourite for a bumper at Sedgefield (finishing fifth, winner and fourth won since) before finding the ground against him at Thurles next time.
The Village will join Outlaw Tom at Lucinda Russell’s yard up here in Scotland. Lucinda surely needs no introduction, she is one of the top trainers not only in Scotland but in the north generally.
I think any of those who’ve participated in the club would vouch for the value for money it is and just what a thrill it is to be involved, never mind to actually find you own a little bit of a winning racehorse. There is also the opportunity to visit the yard and meet the team, including Lucinda herself and Peter Scudamore. For me, that part alone has been worth the monthly subscription.
If anyone would like to be involved you can buy your own share outright for a one-off £300 joining fee and then £55 per month. Alternatively you can join via the TRF group for a reduced fee and monthly payment (basically TRF buys the shares and then we sub-divide it, you won’t be a full member of the club or personally own the share but you will still enjoy many of the benefits). If you’re interested in either option please contact me and I’ll give you full details of how to get involved.
