Matron,
that is fantastic – thanks.
That’s me sorted!
February 25, 2008 at 12:54 #146352Unfortunately the OP’s point is one that afflicts the majority of internet forums.
I remember posting on the old SMARTsig forum over 10 years ago (incidentally Alan does SMARTsig still exist?)
In those days (how old do I sound?) internet forums were much more sparsely populated and membership of the forum tended to be more restricted.
Even though there was still a range of opinions and personalities you tended not to suffer the attentions of those who seem to like to post for postings sake or alternatively just to make mischief.
The only solution IMHO is for membership and posting rights to be much more closely controlled. It is a lot of work for forum administrators though and there are clearly issues regarding censorship that I have difficulties with. Timewasters and troublemakers probably should be given the old spanish archer however.
I post on a couple of other forums and can only say that by comparison this forum is much less afflicted by the nutters than most
February 25, 2008 at 13:43 #146378I joined this forum because members are interested in racing and not just betting. This is the main reason I am a "prolific poster", have an opinion about most things. I suppose I have been guilty at times of aftertiming, though hopefully always to illustrate a point rather than brag etc. I do put my tips up on another forum and sometimes forget I do not here, sorry for that.
The things I find annoying is the abuse some people give, just because a member might disagree. Also about grammer, what matters if something is spelt wrongly or have words in the wrong place as long as it can be understood.
Sometimes it can be tedious if people repeat things but I am probably as guilty as anyone else. I know Fist gets a fair amount of critercism and god knows we do not agree about many things, but at least he has an opinion, if you do not have an opinion, you can not be wrong.
I know my table of odds / value mantra has got on some peoples nerves but as it is at the heart of my profit making can’t help that. Tuff.Ginge

The hard-copy mag went under a couple of years ago but has recently resurfaced as a web-only mag with, as before, subscribers being responsible for submitting articles. There is also an e-mail forum

Not a subscriber myself

Thanks, Drone. I’ll check that out.
February 26, 2008 at 01:20 #146521New forum section?
How about separate jumps from flat?
Certainly will satisfy Grasshopper, and the forum as a whole IMO.
February 26, 2008 at 01:22 #146522I would try to do such a thing immediately. I’ll help pluck the flat threads over to the new forum if you require such assistance.
February 26, 2008 at 01:28 #146523Unfortunate to misspell grammar in a post about grammar Ginge- and as for your attempt at "criticism"….
Don’t ever go on "Are you smarter than a ten-year-old"
February 26, 2008 at 04:04 #146524I’ve never had critercism before Ginge and hope I never do I hate those hairy litle fookers
Had some critisim though……and why not?……..be a sad old world of we all agreed with one another. Be some forum……..anyone think I should bet BJK at 6/4 for next years Gold Cup?………yes, yes yes, yes. Great Idea……… Oh goodie I’m off to the booies…………we’d all be skint in a friggin week
While I’m on my deepest apologies to AP I totally misread your post mate
