No surprise that both (well their connection) were before the BHA today for their antics.

Both have now been banned from all racing under rules.

(Chaninbar had previously been banned from from jump races but after repeating his reluctance at Wolverhampton and Kempton the ban has now been extended to teh flat as well)

Shame about Chaninbar in some ways, on the rare occasion’s he did decide to race he looked to have some potential, however good luck to him the stuborn bugger didn’t want to race so he didn’t, hopefully he finds a new career doing something he enjoys!

Synchronised did not want to race in the National!.

Why do people keep saying that?

He did a silly spook/jink on the way to the start which AP should have sat, but he didn’t. I don’t take that as the horse saying he didn’t want to race, and saw no reluctance to line up and start.

It’s easy to say, with hindsight, that AP falling off was a bad omen, particularly given his generally poor and unlucky record in the race. I also agree that Synchronised should not have been entered but that’s another arguement.

The fact that Synchronised ran on riderless after his fall, leading to his second fall and tragic demise, says to me that he was happy enough in the race and what he did before it meant nothing more than he was feeling cheeky (IMHO)

Synchronised was clearly very reticent when he went to take a look at the first. There was a distinct change in his demeanour from when he was galloping back to the remainder of the field to when he was faced with the first. I can understand why people (including myself) would wish to obstinately disregard this fact but it is still an unavoidable fact.

Herewith reproduced from the Disciplinary Panel page of the BHA website (http://www.britishhorseracing.com/resou … tem=097005):

    Disciplinary Panel Enquiries

    CHANINBAR (FR) – BRENDAN POWELL

KEMPTON PARK (AWT) FIFTH MARCH MEETING 2012

The Disciplinary Panel of the British Horseracing Authority held an enquiry on 24 May 2012 to consider whether or not to exercise its powers under Rule (F)66 of the Rules of Racing and extend the existing restriction on CHANINBAR (FR), trained by Brendan Powell, being entered or running in jump races, to also cover flat races.

The Panel noted that since the Disciplinary Panel placed its restriction in jump races on CHANINBAR (FR) on 23 November 2011, the gelding had subsequently been reluctant to race in two flat races at Wolverhampton on 17 February 2012 and Kempton on 19 March 2012.

Having considered the evidence, the Panel ordered that with immediate effect, under Rule (F)66 of the Rules of Racing, no further entries would be accepted for CHANINBAR (FR) for races run under the Rules of Racing.

I cannot find anything in the above to suggest he could not run in Point-to-Points hereafter, so maybe we’ll see the arrant jade lining up (and remaining lined up) around the Black Forest Lodges and Wadebridges of this world come the late-autumn.

One other animal who must surely be teetering on a ban now is

    The Bear

, who now has a full fruit machine of three WDs after refusing to load at Hamilton on May 18th.

Presumably a chunk of the 19-month absence from which this (for want of a better expression) git sprinter was returning had been spent trying to convince him that entering the stalls, which he had refused to do on his two most recent outings in autumn 2010, would be quite a good thing to do. Alas, he still appears to think otherwise.
