Lost his life in the cross country at Punchestown yesterday.
RIPMay 2, 2014 at 13:33 #477593Is this right that this poor horse was put down in full view of the cameras? Surely not? How can that happen?
May 2, 2014 at 14:04 #477596Yes he can be seen dropping to the ground in the background as the field approach the second last. And not even a mention of his fate on ATR.
May 2, 2014 at 14:11 #477598I’ve just watched it. I’m astounded that was allowed to happen. I can’t understand how there’s not been complaints.
May 2, 2014 at 14:46 #477602I guess most people would have missed it and been none the wiser, especially as they failed to announce anything. But hard to beeline it happened in full view
May 2, 2014 at 15:33 #477607I thought I was imagining it but no it’s sadly true …
May 2, 2014 at 18:42 #477634Nedzer’s Return was a very nice horse, even considered a Grand National prospect a few years ago. Sad times.
May 3, 2014 at 10:19 #477790Punchestown got back to me after I complained. They apologise unreservedly and say the screens were put up to screen the grandstand view. It was a previously unused camera angle and they didn’t realise until too late what would happen and they’re horrified. They’ve asked ATR to remove the footage but so far they haven’t so will ask again.
I’ve contacted ATR twice and they haven’t got back to me.
