Naive ride from Aurelien Lemaitre, and she’s not run to her best.

    Well done, winners.

Great ride from moore to box her in, absolute stupidity from the french jockey, on the best horse in the race and you do that… as bad a ride as youll see

I completely agree it was shockingly naive from the French jockey and I am a massive Ryan Moore fan and remember him legitimately trapping Oisin Murphy on Kameko on the rail in the Sussex a few years ago.

“as bad a ride as youll see”

The ride reminded me of the Bosra Shambles from all those years ago.

I’ve seen the head on now.

Moore is already clearly headed for the rail before they pass the cutaway and it was absolute suicide to follow him.

Only just watched this, why on earth did he think Moore was going to let him up the rail.

The more I know the less I understand.

Anyone who thinks they’re going to get up the inside of Ryan Moore in a Group 1 is seriously deluded. Serves him right.

I have to agree with Ian. I accept she could have been very unlucky
not to get the gap she needed earlier, but at the end she had a chance
to finish much nearer than she did and she was passed by Nashwa when
they both could see daylight. I doubt the connections of BRC will be
sending Lemataire a card this christmas.

Moore has actually made a beeline for the rail before Blue Rose Cen has fully passed the cutaway – every time I see the head on it looks even more of a suicidal manoeuvre.

Like trying to jump onto a bus which has not only closed its door but pulled away.

Blue Rose Cen lacks an instant turn and has led 1.5-2f out in all three of her Group 1 wins, two of them on Very Soft ground.

They’ve gone no pace and he needs to have had her in front at least 2f out – she made all in the Prix De La Grotte.

But she’s had daylight most of the final furlong and just didn’t pick up at all so I couldn’t be certain she would have won today even with an optimum ride.

Not sure she would have won even with a clear run.

Same with me, RTB. The winner was quite dominant towards the end.

Just as a postscript to this race, though there are some quality horses in France this year, the form of both the French Classics Blue Rose Cen won has not worked out well.

At Chantilly, her pacemaker set it up for her and her jockey had an armchair ride with a free passage up the inner to kick on 2f out.

Yet Never Ending Story, the runner up there, was slightly further behind her today than she was then.

I love Blue Rose Cen – she’s done me not one but two winter ante-post good turns – but there’s no room for sentiment in betting and I wouldn’t be taking a short price about her next time out.

She’s decent, but a bit one paced – certainly lacks any sort of turn of foot at the end of a tactical, slowly-run, race.

Yes, she was given a naive ride today, but she had ample time to get up in the final furlong and the bottom line is she didn’t.

It looked pretty desperate ground Ian. I imagine Hollie Doyle though Nashwa would pick up quicker than she did too. I know both she and Blue Rose Cen handle soft ground but it’s it’s still harder to quicken out of clawing mud. Fair play to Crowley & Al Husn who were undeniably best on the day but I suspect if the race was run again, the result would be different.

Have to fully agree with the things said above. The 3-year olds do struggle against the older horses in proper G1 races so far. Paddington of course being one huge exception.

And, don’t forget that Jim Crowley might be the most underrated G1 jockey around. He is cool and does just enough, no matter what the whip suspension was after the KG.

I agree Crowley is underrated and Shadwell don’t just use him because they might like his smile. He brings in the goods with all manner of horses.

Imo if the jockey had ridden the favourite from the front she would probably have won. Of course we will never know for sure but that is what I think. The time was slower than the handicap so she could have front run. It doesn’t matter if the horse didn’t find much once daylight was obtained, when a horse is checked multiple times in a race not every one necessarily comes home flying late. Good news for the backers of the winner of course whichever way you slice it.
