Okay, first time they passed him I can just about understand, but the second? He should have gotten off the racecourse completely or at least stopped until the race finished before continuing.

I don’t recall the commentator on ITV seeing him and nor did I notice him.

The more I know the less I understand.

Idiot. I often see people running on racecourses after racing has started and thought that it’s a no brainer that it shouldn’t be allowed. That anyone would consider running on the course at all, never mind with headphones on, during a race meeting is beyond comprehension. Should have been booted off the course and banned.

    Stewards Report:

‘An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding why Gearoid Harney was jogging on the bend into the home straight, in close proximity to the runners and riders of this race. The Stewards noted Harney’s explanation and reminded him of his responsibilities.’

Rather understating an incident which placed himself and others in danger. In a nutshell, he shouldn’t be on the course when a race is taking place.

Nobody should be allowed to do this.

If jockeys can’t get in shape before the meeting starts, that’s their problem.

This is becoming more frequent these last few years or so, jockeys running to try lose pounds to make weight for next race, why they don’t keep away from racing course track ground I don’t know I’m sure there enough room to do extra laps inside track or of available outside

It does seem peculiar that they’re permitted to run the track at the same time a race is being run.

I run and at 44 am still capable of running sub 8 minute miles. If we say the majority of courses are somewhere around mile 1/4 and mile 1/2 round, you would hope that the vast majority of 20 or 30 something young lads and lasses are capable of getting a lap or two in in between races.

That said. It really shouldn’t ever be likely to cause a problem if the individual running the track is paying attention. Running in headphones is a pretty dumb thing to do! Especially given you would hope he would know the race times and what course they’re using!

It’s not like they don’t know the times of the races at the course they’re at so it really shouldn’t be a problem. If you really must do it then stay on the hurdle course if it’s a chase and vice versa.

The jockey was the rider aboard Micronormous who slipped and went down at Fakenham today. Racing was abandoned and he was taken to hospital let’s hope he is not seriously injured.

The more I know the less I understand.

If someone really needs a run during the afternoon, go out of the racecourse entrance and run a mile down the road and then turn back. Or take your run on the track after the horses have finished their race, there are 30 minutes until the next race when no horses will be running around with you!
