He reports ground is mostly good with a few quicker patches and a few softer ones – also some rough areas close to the inside rail caused by the wear from the jumping. It’s cold, but no snow overnight.

The stands’ bend was very chopped up at the last jumps meeting. The management had clearly tried various routes around the bend during the season, but the result was it was just chewed up all over that section.
No snow in the east this morning. We had a sprinkling in Dunfermline overnight but that quickly disappeared once the sun came out. Clouds depositing some snow over the Pentlands in the distance, but I wouldn’t expect that to be a problem at Musselburgh.

March 23, 2008 at 13:43 #153413Best of luck today hope all the hard work and clever placing pays off!
With regards to snow at Easter the BBC today reported that there chances of snow at Easter is always higher than at Christmas.
March 23, 2008 at 15:17 #153417With the ‘moveable feast’ of Easter being defined as the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox (a strange meeting of the Heathen and the Christian) this Easter is about the earliest it can be: as this year was a leap year the equinox was on the 20th and a full moon occured on the 21st, hence Easter is today the 23rd. So if winter was due a last hoorah, this Easter was a worthy candidate
Good luck in running Salute
March 23, 2008 at 17:07 #153429He finished sixth, beaten just over three lengths – led 3f out, but ran out of steam in the final furlong. The first four all came from well off the pace in a race run at a decent clip.
Salute travelled really well down the far side, improved round the home turn, got pushed wide by Los Nadis as they straightened, and probably got to the front too soon, but he’s not a horse you can disappoint by taking a pull.
Waiting to see what happens to the Great Leighs fixture that was his next planned run on April 4th, but it would be a surprise if the prize money at a substitute meeting would match the original offer.
Picked up £234 for sixth place, plus £140 Sunday appearance money, so he at least paid for the diesel!

March 23, 2008 at 18:16 #153432Ran really well, wasn’t helped by the draw and probably did challenge a tad early given the way the race panned out. They looked a decent bunch on paper and in the paddock and it was a hot enough race for Musselburgh in March (the race was hotter than the day by a considerable margin – it was freezing cold).
However, I’m confident the champagne is merely on ice AP as he’s surely bound to pick up a decent prize somewhere along the way on the evidence of his last two showings. - AuthorPosts
