Recently read he’s looking for winner number 7, but I seem to have lost one of them from my memory. I know: Wither or Which, Florida Pearl, Alexander Banquet, Joe Cullen and Cousin Vinny, been am obviously missing one. Its not important, but one of those things that is now bugging me and I can’t wait until next week to know the answer. So prize to the first one to put up the answer. Cheers

March 5, 2009 at 17:54 #213585Surely that was intentional!!
March 6, 2009 at 15:24 #213813Wow can’t believe I did. Wasn’t it in the Florida Pearl colours as well? Thanks for that has been bugging me for few days now. Interesting how most of them never really went on from that, as haven’t many of the other bumper winners. Is it a race that leaves its mark? I know Monsignor won the next year as did Florida Pearl, but how many have totally disappeared after moderate hurdle or chase form?
March 6, 2009 at 15:36 #213819It probably is a tough race. It would be interesting to see how many graded races the winner’s have won since, compared with horse finishing in the pack.
I thought Cork All Star was a pretty good winner, but he’s done nothing of note.
And Liberman?
March 6, 2009 at 16:30 #213846The Champion Bumper of 2002 looked a good race between those which fought out the money
Pizarro ridden by Jamie Spencer beat Rhinestone Cowboy.
A further 13-lengths away Supreme Novice winner, Back In Front who came home ahead of subsequent Daily Telegraph Trophy winner, Thisthatandtother. A short head further back a future Stayers Hurdle winner in Iris’s Gift.
March 6, 2009 at 21:51 #213933Pizarro did not beat Rhinestone Cowboy. He stole the race. The stewards were remiss allowing Spencer to keep the race. A farce of a decision. I had no bet on the race, just for the record.

That is very true and I think French Holly was down the field in a bumper the year before he won the Sun Alliance. The point I was making is that winners don’t always go on to achieve, maybe because they have the toughest race. Who knows.
