Which horse were you expecting to do good things this year but has not lived up to expectation?
For me it is Maybe. I sat there on Guineas day with a 16/1 voucher under the lucky Owl on the mantelpiece. A few minutes later I sat gutted in disbelief and the lucky Owl was sacked and replaced by a Hedgehog. Two runs since have made her look like she hasn’t trained on.
Any other contenders?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 31, 2012 at 20:07 #408473Frankel !?!
Have you lost a grip on reality ?.
Anyone with half a brain knew at the start of the season that if he stepped up to 10 furlongs it was going to be at York in a race sponsored by his connections.
You are watching one of, if not the best, horse ever, and you are disappointed. Goodness me.
Its not his fault, nor his connections, if he has scared off nearly all the opposition. Great horses do that.
If he steps up in trip and is equally as impressive, will you then want him to step up further.
Perhaps he needs to win an Ascot Giold Cup before some posters will be happy. No the knockers would then come out and say but he hasn’t won a Champion Hurdle or a Cheltenham Gold Cup

I hadn’t even thought of that one. You are probably correct mate – there is simply no pleasing some people.
August 10, 2012 at 14:52 #409423Back on topic, how about Crown Dependency?
Third in the Norfolk, now gelded and beaten in sellers.
All time low today of being last in a seller at Brighton.August 10, 2012 at 15:27 #409427Back on topic, how about Crown Dependency?

All time low today of being last in a seller at Brighton.Crikey, beaten 4 1/2 lengths by a 50/1 shot rated only 38
Mind you, the even money favourite couldn’t beat it either, despite being rated 3 stone higher on 80
How about John Gosden’s Fencing? He has run poorly this year and was tipped up by several pundits at the start of the season.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

All time low today of being last in a seller at Brighton. You know it’s bad when the words ”gave up” are included in a race summary for a horse.
Crown Dependency is one. Another must be Bonfire since his Dante. Thought Rockinante would make a good horse this year too.
Disappointing we’ve yet to see Parish Hall, I also can’t wait to see Declaration of War. War Front looks like the real deal as a stallion
August 11, 2012 at 09:34 #409481Frankels stablemate World Domination turned out to be not very good after all the talk and the hype. I didn’t think the Dante run was that bad but what has happened since hard to explain.
Looking on Sir Henry’s website I can’t see the horse listed. Probably been retired as a maiden winner.
August 18, 2012 at 15:06 #410107I think after today’s run we can add Masked Marvel to the list. Pretty feeble efforts in all runs this season and why he was only about 3/1 or so today is a greater mystery than The Marie Celeste

All time low today of being last in a seller at Brighton. This is, in my opinion, sadly a horse that has fallen out of love with the game.
Without criticising anyone, in my view, repeatedly tying horses above their true level can sour them . Far better, to escalate their tests incrementally, than risk that.August 22, 2012 at 23:00 #410590It is unfair to regard Frankel as disappointing but it is certainly true that the owner and trainer lack any spirit of adventure. One imagines that if the horse were possessed of the power of speech he would not condescend to speak to either of them.
I would suggest that either his speech bubble, or his thoughts, (whichever you prefer), would rather be "thank goodness I am in the care of connections that know what is best for me – do I really care about the thoughts of others outside , no not really".
I think that they are getting along rather well !Surprising to find such an ill judged post from a poster who seems reasonably knowledgeable.
I think that your criticisms of the connections are simply ludicrousSeptember 15, 2012 at 15:41 #413249After today I’ve finally lost patience with STRONG SUIT.
Used to be a solid 7f Group 2 horse.
Has had breathing problems.
Appears well sold by Julie Wood though remains in Hannon yard.
Failed attempt to turn it into a sprinter after Moore got criticised for his ride when failing to reel in a rag in the Hungerford.
Back to 7f today but failed to show.
New owners were spouting on earlier in the season about it being an international jetsetter to race in USA and Australia.
My advice- save the air fare- horse is gone at the game.September 15, 2012 at 17:33 #413285I think after today’s run we can add Masked Marvel to the list. Pretty feeble efforts in all runs this season and why he was only about 3/1 or so today is a greater mystery than The Marie Celeste
As the season has began to take its final form, Masked Marvel sticks out like a sore thumb. His last three runs have been especially disappointing and he doesn’t seem to have any excuses left. I wonder if being thrust towards the Arc as an afterthought damaged him somehow?
September 15, 2012 at 21:53 #413337Beaten Up has been a shocker. Imposing horse well touted by Haggas. Finally got a bit back by ducking him the other day.

So have the punters who have been backing him recently!!
I gave him a miss today as I promised myself I wouldn’t back him again after he let me down for a good lift when second to Lethal Force.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I think Maybe has to be the one after another failure in the Matron recently. Astonishingly only 4/1 for that race, she has been beaten the best part of 30 lengths in her four runs this year and has dropped 9 lbs in the ratings.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
