I hope no one objects to me posting this thread on here. With Cheltenham just round the corner I thought every one would like to comment.
Q. Which of the major races do you think will end up the most competitive at the Festival.
I think the Ryanair fits the bill with VPU, Thyne Again, Noland, Tidal Bay, Exotic Dancer, Our Vic, Monet Graden, Barber’s Shop just some of the entries. it has a real trappy look about it.
You could easily back 6 of them and still not find the winner

Close call, but i like the look of the "Arkle" Forpadydeplasterer,Free
world,Tatenen,Calgary bay,I"msingingtheblues, that would be a cracker
if this lot turned up!January 21, 2009 at 02:00 #205456Ryanair looks the most open race to me at this stage. There are plenty of horses that in other years would run in the Champion Chase or the Gold Cup but because Master Minded, Kauto Star and Denman dominate the CC and GC markets trainers and owners may see this race as an easier option.
It looks mightily competitive and this is reflected in the betting. There’s plenty of value to be had though as a result. Thyne Again appeals to me at 16/1. Nothing between him and Noland on the Arkle running last year and he’s now four times his price. He’s set to run at Fairyhouse on Friday before stepping up in trip for the Hennessy at Leopardstown.
January 21, 2009 at 02:15 #205460Ryanair for sure at this stage
…and btw Fist you didn’t mention the winner…Imperial Commander
January 21, 2009 at 02:17 #205461Supreme Novices looks competitive, as it usually is. Unlike some of the other races (Ryanair, Champ Hurdle) I think its competitive as most of the runners are unexposed. Its usually the first race in which many of the best novices clash from the north, the south and ireland.
January 21, 2009 at 02:41 #205466Is Barber’s Shop not going for the Gold Cup? ? ?
I thought connections stated that they wanted him to run in the Gold Cup.
January 21, 2009 at 03:46 #205478They did Gaz…
January 21, 2009 at 04:18 #205484Didn’t PWise tip him for the Gold Cup?
January 21, 2009 at 04:46 #205489Yep.
January 21, 2009 at 08:42 #205501Absolute junk conjured up by the press I’m afarid
Unless he wins doing handstands on Saturday which is highly unlikely he will go for the Ryanair.
January 21, 2009 at 19:19 #205580I’m sure they’re all ultra competitive.
I’ll give you the least competitive if you like. Now that’s easy – QMCC 2009 !
