Now there’s a thing Hurricane Fly who we all thought was a certain runner ends up anon runner and Thousand Star who I thought wouldn’t run does.

Well done on that 8/1 JJ you lucky mofo  Really hope he wins for you

The big small field and the shorter trip will put a few people off Thousand Stars but slow horses don’t run well in Champion Hurdles. You need a lot of toe just to run in it than you do to win a race like this so he’s got as good a chance as any IMO

Oscar’s Well surely wants further but is no slouch and Pittoni demolition of Donna’s Palm could suggest he also could be better over longer trips in the future.

I reckon this could be a ding dong battle and could go to any of the 3.

Not keen in backing against Thousand Stars but Pittoni has less questions marks against him so I might just double up my bet and take the reduced odds in the place market.

    Pittoni by a whisker.

Thousand Stars is the class horse here but is the trip too short and will he need the run?

Hopefully Oscars Well will have come on from his first effort this season, seems to coming in on the markets while Pittoni (way too short in the betting) drifts to somewhere like he should be imo.

    Oscars Well for me.

    (2:10) 303D Ladbrokes.com Morgiana H’dle (Grade
    1) €48,000.00 ( 2m – 4yo+ )[MAX 22]

    1 Oscars Well(150) (MrsJHarrington) – RMPower 11,10
    2 Pittoni(151) (CByrnes) – DNRussell 11,10
    3 Thousand Stars (FR)(164) (WPMullins) – RWalsh 11,10
    4 Akatara(104) (MJBowe) – TJDoyle 11,00

Thousand Stars the class act of the race but all depends on whether he’s just out for a prep before the Hattons Grace.

I can’t for the life on me understand why Oscar’s Well is running in this. Never at anytime was he thought to be a 2 miler maybe Mrs H thinks he needs another run before heading for the Hatton Grace?

Against that, he the best jumper of a hurdle between the 3, he looked like winning turning for home in his first race before appearing to blow up but the minus is this is a step up in class and he was clearly outpointed by faster horses at the minimum trip so he not only has to prove 2 miles suits he has to do it against what I imagine is tougher opponents. I have to bypass him.

Second guessing Wullie Mullins is like tossing a coin with 3 sides to it. It’s 2/1 on you’ll get it wrong. Was this always the intended target for Thoudsand Stars or just a race to get him right for the Hatton Grace. No option but look at his record and he’s only had one long break in his career after which he finished well beaten 4of 5 to Hurricane Fly. I can only assume from that he may need this.

Pittoni is an awful jumper of hurdles but it didn’t seem to stop him when he thrashed Donna’s Palm after a pipe opener on the flat. I wouldn’t fancy his chances in a months time against these 2 but he’s the one guaranteed to be fit and with no guaranteed pace his flat speed could possibly win the day.

If by some chance it is run at a decent pace maybe one of the 2 will beat him but I can’t see both being in good enough condition to get him out the frame (2)

Playing the odds a bit but Pittoni is the most likely of the 3 to be involved in the finish so backing him at slight odds on or better to be placed looks the most logical bet here.

    HGM
Jessica Harrington has long insisted that Oscars Well has the pace for 2m, and I’d expect her ro proven right today, (She also made it clear that OW needed his first run).
Has it to do with Thousand Stars on the ratings, but hard to believe that Hurricane Fly wasn’t the stable’s intended for this, and consequently TS just out for a run.
Couldn’t have Pittoni at this level, no matter what happens between the other 2.

HGM, I would not say that Oscars Well was ‘clearly outpointed’, they weren’t going fast enough for him for most of the race. He was pulling a plough turning in but fitness got the better of him and his two rivals stayed on better if anything.

Thousand Stars will be tough to beat though and Pittoni is no mug. I’d say the market is about right now.

Oscars Well put in his place there, seems like back to drawing board for connections. He’d have zero chance in a Champion Hurdle on that form. Sky’s the limit for Thousand Stars, he could clean up staying hurdles over the winter.

I like Thousand Stars EW Ante Post, if Hurricane Fly isn’t 100% Mullins won’t run him, so 8/1 seems generous, and pretty much guaranteed to run.

    Love being right!

What a farce that race why bother with only 4 runners.

Looks nailed on for the Hatton Grace if he goes but it will be a short winter if he crosses the water and runs into Big Bucks :)
