Camelot 2-y-o (05Mar09 b c)
Montjeu (IRE) (11.6f) — Tarfah (USA) (Kingmambo (USA) (9.9f))
525,000gns Y; second foal; dam 1m-1m1f (Group 3) winner, out of 1m2f Listed handicap winning half-sister to French 1m-13.5f Listed winner Faru and 11.4f Listed winner Birdie.
Comment: A expensive purchase and is related to a horse that David Watchman trains called Ideal. Almost double the price that the half brother from Galileo went for so obviously a striking individual.

[attachment=0:3e54qzgv]Horse 1.jpg[/attachment:3e54qzgv]June 4, 2011 at 15:41 #358869Montjeu again wins the Epsom Derby….unbelievable i think that is he 3rd Derby or maybe 4.
What a stallion prospect he is.
Recital is a 4yr old imo…too green still
June 12, 2011 at 16:42 #360323Problems with his get.The fillies!Fifty fifty chance you get a fillie! Then the chance of a winner is so much less since half of his stock will be fillies and probaly ninety percent of those won’t even get to the track. You really role the dice with Montjeu.
October 8, 2011 at 17:14 #373506Is Wading finally going to put to bed that Montjeu doesn’t produce fillies.
A fairly successful day otherwise for Montjeu fillies with the success of Never Can Tell and the dam of Parish Hall being by Montjeu.
Of course there are always going to be quirky horses by Montjeu, but this just makes everything more interesting
October 8, 2011 at 17:57 #373512Fillies tend to be a little more temperamental, which
added
to the fact Montjeu tends to get "quirky" sorts anyway – might explain why Montjeu fillies have done less well than colts.
Suspect Never Can Tell is quirky, needs to lead / race prominently / doesn’t like being crowded.
That’s not to say there aren’t some Montjeu fillies capable of top class form.
Wading
shows no sign yet of temperament. So is a good bet to buck the trend. Fingers crossed.
Value Is EverythingOctober 8, 2011 at 18:02 #373513Montjeu Filly’s as a general rule are horrible to deal with and just awful to be around.
Obviously the better bred they are the more likely a stronger sound mind. Wading IMO will be a exception to the rule.
People that bought Montjeu females at the sales have been cleaned out over the past decade. Just look at some of the results.
October 8, 2011 at 18:30 #373519It’s interesting that Wading’s dam Cherry Hinton is by Green Desert out of the great Urban Sea. Sea The Stars was out of Urban Sea by Cape Cross who was by Green Desert.
Value Is EverythingOctober 8, 2011 at 18:32 #373520That Urban Sea tree could have a few classic winners next year
Born to sea anyone
