Fighting for his life after suffering an infection in his hoof.
His owner reports it’s looking doubtful he will pull through.
C’mon, Old Boy!!
January 4, 2011 at 14:30 #334750Just heard the news myself – absolutely gutted.
I love the old boy.
Best wishes to him and all who are trying to save him.
Come on fella – you can do it !!January 4, 2011 at 14:49 #334751come on old fella this is a fight you must win.this is one of my favorite horses and he deserves a long retirement
January 4, 2011 at 15:31 #334758Come on Monet’s, you can make it….I know you can!

January 4, 2011 at 18:37 #334773One of my favourite horses too. Would’ve won the Arkle without the unfair 5 year old allowance at the time. Trying to give weight to Voy Por Ustedes.
Front-running, genuine, credit to connections, a real battler.
Good luck Monet’s Garden in your final fight.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 4, 2011 at 20:11 #334783Racing Post has a great piece on this great horse. Best best wishes to Monet’s Garden, he’s getting the best treatment and he deserves it all
January 4, 2011 at 20:24 #334787Please god he defies his odds once again – wonderful horse.
January 4, 2011 at 20:39 #334788Come on lad, you can do it!
You have always had the heart of a lion and you can fight and beat it!
January 4, 2011 at 20:54 #334789Hopefully the dashing grey will pull through or if it comes to it have a painless end. Seen him last year at Kelso Borders National Meeting when they had a parade of stars/northern champions.
Great to see a horse of that calibre in the north and trained/campaigned so well..
Lovely horse.
January 4, 2011 at 21:14 #334790Whatever happens to the mighty Grey,Aintree have to re-name the Roan Chase after him, Poquelin and Tartak have both confirmed just how tough the old boy is,particularly the latter who went off 15/8fav and getting virtually a stone in weight couldn"t live with Mighty Monet that historical day!
January 4, 2011 at 23:01 #334797Well said TAPK
Whatever happens (and God bless it is positive), the race should be named after the old boy.
If anyone hears anything (without pestering the connections), can they post it asap pleaseJanuary 5, 2011 at 16:12 #334843No change in his condition, reports RP Online.
"I have spoken twice this morning to the vets since the news was published but there is no update – Monet’s Garden is not moving forwards or going backwards.
"We have been absolutely inundated with well-wishers and several people have kindly made some helpful suggestions. It’s a hard game but within the industry I couldn’t believe the affection there has been for the old horse.
Well done to the Racing Post for posting a further update today – It would be nice if they continued to update on a daily basis.
January 5, 2011 at 21:57 #334851Come on Monet’s Garden. A real fighter.
January 6, 2011 at 13:49 #334892Apparently the old boy went backwards a bit yesterday morning but the vet was a bit happier with him last night and he had a "steady old night".
He is eating which hopefully is a good sign in my view.Everyone I know who has any interest in racing is praying for him, so lets hope he makes it.

Thanks for the update, obviously wishing him well, he must be one of the more loved race horses.
January 9, 2011 at 17:54 #335211The Old Boy is still hanging in there.
Stable and in good spirits was the latest update this Saturday.
Keep fighting, Monet!
January 11, 2011 at 19:18 #335487Although there has been little change in his overall condition, Nicky Richards has stated that they have been able to reduce his painkillers and they have been able to let him have a bit of a walk outside his box.
Hopefully this is the start of an improvement and a good sign about his chances.
Come on old boy !! -
